To start with, the site, the Berlin Ichthyosaur State Park in Nevada is famous for its assemblage of multiple specimens of the giant ichthyosaur, Shonisaurus. The how and why the ichthyosaurs ended up preserved together has been the subject of speculation for over 50 years. I work in #VertebratePaleontology, with focus on the #Evolution of #JawedVertebrates and the #FishTetrapodTransition. The timeframe for my research essentially spans the #Silurian, #Devonian and #Carboniferous periods. Much of my work is based on #SynchrotronTomography carried out at the #EuropeanSynchrotronRadiation Facility, #ESRF. -
