*Sunday’s Devotion

Yes, they are greedy dogs
Which never have enough.
And they are shepherds
Who cannot understand;
They all look to their own way,
Every one for his own gain,

ISAIAH 56 IN ITS ENTIRETY.

Thought for the Week: In this passage, God delivers a harsh critique of leaders who have abandoned their post to pursue personal desire. He calls them “greedy dogs” and “ignorant shepherds” who, instead of feeding and watching over the flock, are entirely consumed by selfish gain. The core failure is not just their greed, but their neglect of responsibility.

It is easy to point fingers at leadership, but this verse invites personal reflection: Am I “looking to my own way” rather than God’s path? Or am I truly satisfied, or am I constantly chasing “more” while ignoring the needs of those around me?

Self-centeredness blinds us, much like it did the shepherds in Isaiah’s day. It blinds us to the needs of our families, communities, and to God’s calling. True fulfillment is never found in grabbing for more, but in serving with a selfless heart.

Today, let us ask the Lord to check our hearts, that we might be servants who watch out for others, not greedy dogs pursuing our own gain.

Prayer: Lord, forgive me when I become consumed by my own selfish desires. Help me to be a “watchman” in my own life, looking out for those around me, and finding my satisfaction in Your will. Direct my path toward service, not selfish gain. In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen..
