If I could give only one piece of advice about how to setup a worm bin.

Don't overfeed it.

Let the worms the time to consume the food and feed them about 2 times a week the volume of food they need.

Not doing this will attract unwanted visitors to your bin.

A lot of pepper #seeds have sprouted in a #worm bin, the moisture, temperature, and nutrients made those seeds germinate because I keep the worm casting shallow. The #worms love it.

@harshad That is so right. We owe everything we have to the life in our soils that sustains us.

Even though I know my soil is alive with worms there’s always a bit of relief to see them whenever I uncover any soil. They are a joy. #SoilHealth #Soil #Vermicast #Vermiculture

@nicole2g @compost I’ve never used peat as an ingredient in making my own compost but I will add leaf mould to a compost mix for seedlings.

Next year I may experiment a little and add #Vermicast #Bokashi or #IMO made from rice water to the potting mix.

The compost is made from anything and everything I can get my hands on at the time. I will compost everything except brambles.
