going to Italy for lunch,
I am going to miss living so close to Italy. we have a favorite restaurant in ventimiglia that we visit a few times per year.
ventimiglia is the first Italian city by the border and they have a great street market every Friday.
just found out that I can buy a day pass for 20 euro and up to 8 people can travel with that card for an extra 5 euro each.
that's a huge discount compared to the 25 euro per person return tickets.
Doris is of course want to buy parmesan cheese and glass cover for her phone and Italian gelatos.

Anche nuovo: From today, the evening Regionale Veloce service from #Milano 20:25 🇮🇹 to #Alassio 23:59 has been extended to #Ventimiglia 00:50 on Fridays and Saturdays, creating a year-round direct regional service Milano-Ventimiglia.
Until now, direct regional services ran only during the summer period ('Treni del Mare'). The train departs from Milano C.le 20 min later than the last direct IC service of the day with a journey time ~30 min longer.

Once again, the #TreniDelMare to the seaside in 🇮🇹 are running. These are regional train services on weekends that cover exceptionally long distances without needing a reservation, like #Bergamo - #Ventimiglia or #Como - #LaSpezia.
New this year: the region #EmiliaRomagna provides direct regional services between #Milano and #Rimini via #Ravenna. Travel time Milano -Ravenna is about 4h.
Note: the new train services are not shown in Hafas applications

Now it's official: from tomorrow the new train pair between #Ventimiglia and #Cuneo via #Tende and Breil-sur-Roya will be operating. Departure from Cuneo at 8:41 am and from Ventimiglia at 2:55 pm.

Good news for the #Tenda railway line: From 2 April 2024 there will be again a fourth train pair between #Cuneo 🇮🇹 - #Tende 🇫🇷 - #Ventimiglia 🇮🇹.
However, there still seems to be disagreement between the two italian regions Piemonte and Liguria regarding the departure time at Ventimiglia.
Piemonte prefers a departure at 16:05 that might be better for commuters,
but since the tracks are occupied by ligurian regional trains, currently an earlier dep at 14:55 is planned. -

Some more extra trains to the beaches of #Liguria 🇮🇹: Starting from today and until 10th of September additional trains are also running from/to the region of #Piemonte. The direct services connect on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays the city of #Torino with #Savona, #Albenga, #Imperia and #Ventimiglia.
