Venice day 4: Arsenale + nine other exhibitions, Finland mentioned (once), one artsy shit and too many euros for a drink.

Arsenale section of the Biennale was way too stuffed, I couldn't really concentrate there on anything. Except on Nina Katchadourian's hilarious video The Recarcassing Ceremony, remembering dramatic events of her childhood summers in Finland, starring likes of Matti Båtsman and his 25 kids.

Kind of not my favourite, but still feel like have to mention: Luxemburg presented a video by Aline Bouvy, shit in the leading role. The costume design and make up were a tad too realistic tbh. Very weird piece, even to my taste. Another shitty thing was the "lighting design" of one of the Italian pieces. It was so awful that as a lighting designer, I felt a little insulted.

My favourite today was Hong Kong, surprising with several beautiful installations dealing with light, especially Kingsley Ng's installation of windows and laundry. Also Iceland's pavilion was airy and serene.

To reward myself of all this art-seeing, I had a Campari Spritz on one of the Riva's hotel bar's, admiring the sunset over city line. Actually, it was worth the 25 €. But next time maybe a take away in plastic cup for a fiver.
