#velttovirtanen — Public Fediverse posts

This week's #ThursdayFiveList theme is #SciFiTunes. This time I ended up choosing a selection of Finnish-language songs:

Fredi: Muukalainen (1973) ("Starman" in Finnish)

Veltto Virtanen: Ufo (1978) (an off-the wall Finnish-language version of "It Came Out of the Sky")

Tuomari Nurmio: Punainen planeetta (1983) ("Red Planet")

Leevi & the Leavings: Nainen toiselta planeetalta (1986) ("Woman From Another Planet")

Liisa Akimof: Helsinki (1990) (in the lyrics the city of Helsinki is drowning into the sea, but there's bureaucracy that needs to be taken care of)

Another pick for this week's #JukeboxFridayNight theme, #PunkRock. Here's a Finnish #ProtoPunk classic by the group Virtanen, with lead singer Moog Konttinen and guitarist Veltto Virtanen.

Virtanen: Elektroninen Xtaasi ("Iltatähti", 30.4.1975)

Veltto Virtanen later went on to become a member of the Finnish Parliament, but his political career is another (and almost equally zany) story: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veltto_Virtanen
