Q8. This week I experienced a beautiful, spring-like day at the Cyclo-Cross World Championships in Hulst, the Netherlands 🇳🇱 Day two was less spring-like but it didn't affect an amazing weekend.
I saw lots of friends and met someone new I had previously only known through Mastodon 🙂👋

Just popped to supermarket and it's raining.
Not heavy yet but forecast is a lot damper than expected.
It's a well drained course but women's elite has potential for very slippery surface to parcours.
The big climbs will be awesome.

I will be visiting Brussels and would like to watch that weekend's cyclo-cross race on TV in a bar or cafe. I have found a list of sports bars in Brussels but they seem to be mainly for football and rugby. Can anyone suggest somewhere?

There is one week to go until the start of the Cyclo-Cross World Championships in Hulst, Netherlands 🇳🇱 (30th Jan-1st Feb).
I tend to get excited about this. I think it is the best weekend of exciting racing by riders from across the globe, enjoyed by the most passionate supporters.

Elite Women from 12.30 CET. Elite Men from 15.00 CET.
Unless you have a subscription to Discovery/TNT, Eurosport, FloBikes etc. a VPN is probably the best option to be able to watch the races for free on the UCI's YouTube channel. You will need a VPN that allows you select a country that does not have a host broadcaster and is not geoblocked.

Zonhoven is an iconic venue, famous for De Kuil, a huge sandpit the riders race through that will be a cauldron of spectators.

It wasn't in any doubt, but nice to have it confirmed that Mathieu van der Poel will be racing at the Cyclo-Cross World Championships.
If he wins again and takes another rainbow 🌈 jersey, he will hold outright the record for the number of wins in the Elite Men category.
If he does, it will be on home soil in the Netherlands. It will be quite a party!

Tomorrow (23rd November) is the first round of the UCI Cyclo-Cross World Cup from Tábor, Czechia 🇨🇿. This year, it's a more compact programme of 12 rounds.

Gelukkig staat er momenteel een zuidenwind en is er afwaaiing. Bij een noordenwind konden ze dit weekend wel het EK Zeezwemmen organiseren in plaats van veldrijden.
In het vervolg moeten de organisatoren toch maar eens het getijdenboekje beter raadplegen.

1st November means it's the Koppenbergcross on the outskirts of Oudenaarde, Belgium 🇧🇪 Each lap of this cyclo-cross race includes the iconic Koppenberg cobbled climb that tends to have a large say in who wins the Tour of Flanders one-day classic road race.
The gradient peaks at 22% on a very harsh surface. It is hard enough to ride up (don't let that stop you if you get the opportunity), without repeatedly racing up it.
The rest of the lap is a bit of a cow field, but it's the Koppenberg and that's enough to make it worth watching if you can.
