The truly important reason to try the #positron R/Python editor is that it can work in parallel with another R session open in #RStudio for a different project...
Also amazed by the #Pluto notebook for #Julia scientific work. One of its nice features is that the associated file is in text format and the code can be easily extracted. Not yet ready to switch from #ggplot to #VegaLite though.

Here's a view of what Chandra is doing now. You can see recently-done and planned observations split by instrument (including grating choice) and by the SIMBAD classification (a rough idea about what is being looked at, but there's much more to a Chandra observation than just the target).
The summary bar at the top shows that most of the time Chandra is doing Science (otherwise it's moving between targets, taking some "me" time, or hiding from the radiation belts).

#PowerBI is a powerful BI tool with a strong “back-office” (ETL, data modeling, DAX), but its “front office” (#visualization) has limited capabilities.
#Deneb (certified custom visual for Power BI) and #Vega #VegaLite (data visualization languages), gives you almost endless possibilities.
Read the full article, see examples of Vega charts (with open source code) and an example of a simple but impressive Power BI report with Deneb visual:

Currently working for Onderzoek en Statistiek, gemeente Amsterdam (Research and Statistics at the municipality). Where I collaborate with researchers to make graphs, fact sheets and animations.

#onderzoek #statistiek #OnderzoekenStatistiekI've been working with vega-lite lately. At O&S we made some examples, where we've applied the Amsterdam "huisstijl" and try to tackle accessibility. WIP

Yesterday I discovered you can use Figma to make Vega-Lite data visuals. Something new to play around with and see what I can create.

Altair 5.0 is out! 🎉
Vega-Altair (Altair for short) is a statistical visualization library for Python built on top of the Vega-Lite declarative grammar.
This version introduces selection parameters and variable parameters, experimental support for the DataFrame Interchange Protocol (hence compatibility with Polars!), and much more.
You can install it with `pip install "altair==5.0.0"`
And read the complete release notes at https://github.com/altair-viz/altair/releases/tag/v5.0.0

{vegabrite} is an experimental but “mostly complete” #rstats 📦 for creating Vega-Lite data visualizations from R. Includes charts, maps, interactivity options and more. By Alicia Schep.
