Die Demokratie ist auf dem Rückzug. Autokratie und Totalitarismus sind global auf dem Vormarsch. Das ist das Resultat des weltweiten Demokratie-Panels. Die Entwicklung ist vielsagend: 2005 lebten 50% der Weltbevölkerung in Demokratien. Heute sind es nur noch 25%: Indien, Indonesien, Pakistan, Mexiko und USA werden vom Panel nicht mehr als echte Demokratien eingestuft.

Het jaarlijkse V-dem (varieties in democracy) rapport is de moeite waard om door te nemen.
Nederland scoort nog steeds goed in de democratie index, maar ten opzichte van 2015 is er wel duidelijke achteruitgang.
Een zwakte in ons land is met name de mate van participatie in politiek. Op veel aspecten staan we rond de 20ste plaats (in de wereld) maar met participatie is het slechts de 50ste.
Teleurstelling is Polen. De omkeer lijkt te stokken

Secondo recenti ricerche internazionali (come il Democracy Report di V-Dem), oggi solo 29 Paesi possono essere considerati vere democrazie liberali. Un dato che segnala un chiaro arretramento globale.
In questo quadro né Stati Uniti né Italia rientrano tra le democrazie “piene”, sono classificate come democrazie imperfette. #Israele è uscito dal gruppo delle democrazie liberali, pur restando una sistema elettorale. -
