The past year has been the year where I rediscovered flightsimming, something I already loved to do as a kid! It's been hundreds of flight hours and too many euros on fancy flight equipment and virtual planes.... but we're having fun!

BAW1474: EGLL 🇬🇧 -> EGPH 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 in the #A32N. Overall uneventful flight with some nice weather changes. Trying to get back into the #VATSIM groove again, and ran the flight in observer mode, but low #fps caused me to loose connection constantly. I might honestly ditch #mac for #flightsimming as the performance is just not there unfortunately.

Mit BeyondATC gibt es jetzt Kommunikation mit einer synthetischen Flugverkehrskontrolle, in diesem Fall mit einem wunderbaren französischen Akzent ❤️

Der vorbereitete Flugplan wurde natürlich im Flug mehrfach geändert (ein Direct hier, eine neue Landebahn dort, …), was für zusätzliche Abwechslung unterwegs sorgt 🤓

Hmpf. Habe mir einen schönen Kaffee gekocht, was zum Naschen hingestellt einen Flugplan auf #vatsim erstellt und wollte nach langem mal wieder versuchen einen A320 sicher zu bewegen... Und beim starten des simulators entscheidet sich der Internetanschluss die Grätsche zu machen.

There are multiple organizations on #VATSIM (Virtual Air Traffic Simulation Network) that have pilot training programs. What amazes me is that often, folks who are real life CFI's volunteer their time to provide free training. Really grateful for their time and effort.

I'm running mainly #xplane 12 (on Linux of course; #msfs2020 runs fine too with wine/proton but I prefer x-plane). This evening I did my first flight on the #vatsim network, with 'real' human traffic controllers. Great fun!!

I had a good time with X-Plane 12 last weekend

I have been getting back into civil flight simulation again. It doesn't look as stunning as Microsoft Flight Simulator, but with Orthophotos it's still pretty good. And it runs natively on Linux!

@santiago Maybe list the closest airport instead of coordinates since users “should” take off from an airport and HAVE to when flying online e.g. on #vatsim

Yesterday I released my #Django OAuth2 provider for #VATSIM on GitHub and PyPI. Though it's only a small project I learned quite a lot of new stuff along the way besides gaining a better understanding of the OAuth2 flow, such as how Python packaging works and how to use GitHub Actions for automated testing and release publishing. Feedback is most appreciated from anyone deciding to check this out, as I’m sure there's still lots of room for improvements here and there.

This Friday was #vatsim class number 21. I did well, however I always forget where I am when we switch up. I need to be looking at my notes. I also really need to work on not overthinking the situation the pilot is in. The solution and tools are in front of me. Now why can't I think about using them. I forget they are there. I know the information; I know what to do. Now, how to get rid of this blocker. Advice would be welcome here.
