Datatype is a new OpenType font that allows you to create charts based on text expressions.

Unlike Chartwell, it is a variable font. It (currently) offers three chart types and handles pie charts slightly differently than Chartwell. I think it’s an interesting approach.

We know it is against ethics of the type design community, but after #Affinity not fixing a bug for almost a year, we changed the axis names in #PurpleHaze to “wght” and “wdth”.
Technically wrong, but we rather have it work for everyone.

Weight Unispace: wght

(It’s a silent update without new version number)

We have not seen much excitement on here about the fact that #Adobe finally announced #VariableFont support for #AfterEffects after all these years.

@faux_icing It’s the Glyphs Industrial Complex, telling their users to add as many loops and smart parts as possible into their fonts.

Cleaning up such a mess at the moment and all I can think is, why? And, I have better things to do.

Disclaimer: while some overlaps are necessary to make a #VariableFont work, most of them are not. The specs allow overlap and the renderer should ignore them, but it has not been implemented anywhere. Hence I recommend to minimize their use.
