  1. An *in vitro* study found that human embryonic stem cells lost their ability to develop normally when exposed to vanillin. These tests were carried out because vanillin is commonly present in e-cigarettes, and vaping has been associated with difficulty conceiving and with miscarriage.

    The results can't be straightforwardly interpreted with respect to vaping's effect on pregnancy.
