    Once in a while I come back to listening to Van Dyke Parks' Song Cycle from 1967 / 68.
    It's a curious album. The most expensive album made at that time. Warner Bros. lost a heap funding it though it was critically acclaimed. The wiki is worth a read.

    Originally written and recorded with Brian Wilson for the album of the same name (Parks also co-wrote the Beach Boys' legendary lost album Smile), but I prefer his solo interpretation with orchestration. So delicate and lovely and beautiful.
