  2. In the world of private equity, the leadership team is the most significant factor in a portfolio company's success. Many firms still rely on gut instinct or a familiar Rolodex when appointing executives. However, the most successful investors are shifting toward a rigorous, data-backed approach to talent. They recognize that an executive who thrived in a stable corporate environment might fail in the high-velocity, high-leverage world of a PE-backed exit strategy.

Building the right team requires looking beyond the resume and analyzing how a leader’s specific competencies align with the value creation plan. You cannot expect a turnaround specialist to manage a period of aggressive organic growth effectively. The goal is to move past individual brilliance and focus on how the executive team functions as a unit under pressure.

🧠 Effective PE firms align executive assessments with the specific goals of the investment thesis.
⚡ Speed to value is the primary driver for leadership decisions.
🎓 Success depends on the team's ability to execute a high-stakes pivot within a short window.
🔍 Behavioral data is becoming as important as financial performance when evaluating a CEO.

  7. 1 #TorstenSlok, chief economist, Apollo Global Management: from a macro perspective, the #valuecreation is not the product, but how #generativeAI is used and implemented in different sectors in the #economy. The academic literature is still inconclusive about the potential macro effects of #AI 🧵

So what is creativity? It’s producing something both novel and appropriate. 💡 New ideas matter only when they add value, fit context, and move life or work forward.

  13. The problem with value stream mapping: It's useless.
The problem with value stream design: It's of little use, as it fails to “overcome the system”, but merely optimizes!

  14. - Matrix Structures
    - The Spotify Model
    - #Agile Scaling (SAFe etc)
    - Silo structures
    - Sociocracy/holacracy
All that stuff is exactly the same: It leads to #centralization, bureaucratization, fear, waste, demotivation & learned helplessness.

Concepts that promote "circles" do not understand teams.

    Both should better be shunned.

  17. @nielspflaeging I was about to answer that your equation is a little to simple and that you are forgetting #valueCreation and #flowOptimisation. But actually I think that you get both by #selforganization.

  18. @arnd
Can we keep things apart from each other? A conversation is not a smoothie!

    1) Nobody said all #LiberatingStructures were shit. Most if not all were just stolen somewhere and grouped under the "LS" label

    2) My post above is an observation about a certain community, not individuals/things

    3) #OpenSpace is a gathering format. It is consistent with #BetaCodex. It plays a role in #OpenSpaceBeta, not necessarily in #BetaCodex, certainly not in #valuecreation, directly.

    Is it clearer now?

  19. @nielspflaeging

OK so I merged your post into this:

"I find that it's always people with no clue of actual #valuecreation that find LiberatingStructures amazing, exciting and, well, "liberating"."

Is it about ppl being so excited about LS that they lose focus on why they chose LS at first place? Is it about not seeing LS as a means to an end?

  20. @nielspflaeging my first point was that #liberatingstructures does not imply #valuecreation (this is where we agree), but it does not deny it either. For me the first is a tool, the second is a goal. Focusing on a tools instead of a goal does not create value, but the same is true for alienating people that like certain tools.

  21. @nielspflaeging what you say sounds to me like oversimplification, but also fits with my experience. There were a few super nice people with deep believe in #liberatingstructures , but they seemed to have lost the focus on #valuecreation . I still feel like an engineer and this is a little too much « l’art pour l’art »

  22. A word about #LiberatingStructures:
I find that it's usually people with little or no clue of actual #valuecreation that find it amazing, exciting and, well, "liberating".

    Think about it.

Thinking about what is said above: Scrap "usually" and substitute it by "always". Scrap "little or" 🙂

    Sorry.
It is just so friggin' obvious.

    Guillotine or Electric Chair anyone?

That's what all #AgileFrameworks are like: They are faulty means to mistaken ends.
None of the frameworks is about impact on #valuecreation at all. The impact they supposedly aim at producing could be achieved in different & simpler ways, fast.

That money is spent on #AgileFrameworks, that human capacity is squandered on them makes me sad.
