Inviting Lavly Perling to take part in the leaders' debate on behalf of Parempoolsed, but not Johanna Maria Tõugu for the Greens was painted as a decision by the Public Broadcaster based on parties needing to have candidates on every ballot. But it ends up looking like bias by an organisation with right-leaning management, that has consistently treated environmental issues as an inconvenience to cover, or taken the side of industry in reporting.
Perling's party is polling below the Greens in exit polls, and yet the former state prosecutor was able to use her name recognition to potentially win votes, unlike the more popular Greens.
ERR's present system allows donors to effectively buy a place in televised debates, and that isn't democratic.
