  1. Alrighty, everything set up for the #GNOME showcase at the hardware bazaar meetup later. A GNOME OS laptop, a #phosh tablet and phone, all connected with each other via #p2panda (via Reflection as a demo), #Nextcloud (calendar, contacts, files) and #Valent /KDE Connect (notifications, clipboard etc.

  3. #Valent tauchte zum ersten Mal im Protokoll der 1. Sitzung des 21. Deutschen Bundestages am 25.03.2025 auf. Das Protokoll findet sich unter dserver.bundestag.de/btp/21/21

  4. also, #Valent is breaking KDE Connect on my tablet. For some reason they didn't stay connected, and then I tried to reconnect them but my computer didn't show up. So I tried updating Valent (KDE Connect is up to date), and now whenever I reopen KDE Connect on my tablet, it closes out immediately -- apparently not a crash, it's not giving me the "stopped working" message no matter how much it happens.

Apparently if I force-stop KDE Connect and clear it, it'll be able to pair again?

  5. @Satiah sadly #Valent is not available for arm64 and if there are build instructions, they are well-hidden! It is a 'mason' based build, and I know I've done mason builds before, nearly certain…

  6. @Satiah sadly I see this rumour that gsconnect is dead, however there is an alternate called #Valent written by the same person reddit.com/r/gnome/comments/17

  7. @Lehmanator @agx yep, I just installed on my phone and it connected successfully to the shell extension on my desktop! 🎉

Everything seems to work, including turning the phone into a mouse 😁 🐁

(Well, except remotely sending an through , but maybe that's a bit too much to expect already...)

  8. As of today, I'm finally free of extensions! The last extension I depended on was , but I replaced it with . Thanks @andyholmes :)

  9. @jr #GSConnect runs as a #Gnome shell extension, which basicly means it's Gnome exclusive. #Valent, while being built on Gnome libraries, can be run independently from Gnome.

  10. Loving #KDEConnect and using #Linux but you don't want to install a ton of #KDE dependencies? Take a look at the early dev version of the #GTK based #Valent by the developer of #GSConnect: valent.andyholmes.ca/
