Noch einmal zurück zur Hauptstraße und dann folgten wir einem Schild zum Schloss #Valdemar.
Noch so ein riesen Klotz! Die Straße führt direkt durch den Schlosshof, von wo aus schon viel zu sehen ist. Wer ins Schloss will, bezahlt 175 DKK, was sich wirklich lohnt. Das Schloss selbst beherbergt alte Gemälde von Adligen & spannende Kunst als Holz. Effie musste aber auf den Arm. Im Teepavillon sind Skulpturen von Sarah Lucas aufgestellt und selbst die Stallungen haben Kunst zu bieten.

I found a box of (mostly) high school era CDs that my parents boxed up decades ago without my knowledge. I thought I lost these #MercedesLackey #Valdemar soundtracks for good. I’m so so glad I found them again because they’re impossible to find now.

I was a little girl reading Valdemar all the way into my teen years, passing around an old copy of The Black Gryphon between friends and leaving notes in the margin. When the Owlmage Trilogy wrapped up, I was left wondering for decades what would happen next as new series would explore the past instead of the future of the world. "What's next for Valdemar?"

When we got the answer with Gryphon in Light, I was an adult, and extremely happy to see so many long-running plot threads and hints coming to fruition. Also, during those years of growing up, my husband and I used to go out to help Misty and Larry fix up the place as they got older and needed people with good knees and backs to handle the heavy lifting.

Which is to say that the answer as to what was next for my favorite childhood series... includes both my husband and me =] Or, at least, characters named after us. Not to mention a couple of trans characters in addition to Valdemar's already very-queer cast.

So for $2.99, you, too, can try to guess which character is named after my maiden name!

Aquí está, un libro que fue especial en su momento (creo que aún tengo por ahí las 'Leyendas' en edición de Cátedra) porque me abrió la sensibilidad a temas que iban a ser muy queridos para mí. Lo macabro en Bécquer es jai cualiti, biches, y me dispongo a regidearme en sus ambientaciones y su minuciosidad, no prometo resistirme a fingir una tuberculosis o algo. Un libro que he releído y que he vuelto a gozar y que ahora cae en unas manos inmejorables, los de @ed_valdemar toh lo que tocan lo bordan. Ha pasado directamente al primer puesto de los pendientes, pronto le jincaré er pico.

Empiezo sin duda por 'Cuentos de Averoigne', de Clark Ashton Smith y después alguno de los que tienen editados de Ligotti, menos 'Noctuario' que ya me lo trapiñé en su momento y aquí está en su estante diciéndome que le lleve hermanitos.

Y vosotres qué, que libro tenéis que os haga suspirar ante su sola mención, contadme guachupines de biblioteca, contadme...

Una auténtica joya para fans de los Mitos de #Cthulhu. Antología de relatos (y alguna novela corta) profusamente anotada por Leslie S. Klinger (quien también en Akal tiene todo el canon holmesiano anotado hasta casi el absurdo) y con alguna que otra ilustración o fotografía de época. La cantidad de información sobre #Lovecraft su obra, su cosmología, su manera de trabajar es abrumadora. Es un libro que exige mucho tiempo para poder disfrutarlo y sacarle todo el jugo.
No sé si lo recomendaría a alguien que quisiera adentrarse en la obra del genio de Providence, pero para los que ya estén enganchados no dudaría en absoluto. Tengo en mi biblioteca los dos volúmenes anotados de Akal y los dos de las obras completas de #Valdemar y ninguno me sobra.

Currently reading Beyond, the new Mercedes Lackey about the founding of Valdemar. I love a good origin story, and this world is one of my favourites. I know some of the books are patchy (esp the novellas) but I’ll basically read all of it anyway. Later on I’ll be diving into the first day of #TheDarkIsReading which I do every year, plus listening to Rob MacFarlane’s BBC audio version.

Pues todavía no conocía el local nuevo de la librería Antonio Machado y se ve que me ha encantado porque no sólo me ha parecido que está muy bien montada sino que además me he vuelto loco en la sección de #Valdemar. He tenido que frenarme para no salir de ahí con una carretilla. @eolica también se ha llevado unas cuantas cositas, incluyendo una marcianada cabalística de Alan Moore
