I realized it’s been twenty years since I had the honor of restoring the first English translation of Baron de la Motte-Fouqué's epic #TheMagicRing with #ValancourtBooks. Only a single handful of copies was available in world libraries when we undertook this project. I'm so happy that this classic is still out there! #Gothic #Fantasy #Bookstodon

We’re celebrating #RogerCorman at our house, and, wow, #TheIntruder from 1962 (also released as #Shame in the U.S., which is the title under which it’s streaming) holds up very well. I wish it weren’t so timely. It’s a powerful film. (#ValancourtBooks has reissued the novel on which it’s based.) #Film #Racism #CivilRights #Books

Riding The Nightmare had me galloping through the pages, It is loaded from cover to cover with delightfully dark and disturbing tales from one of the best storytellers in horror, Lisa Tuttle. My review is posted at https://wellwortharead.blogspot.com/2023/08/riding-nightmare-by-lisa-tuttle.html

«This tale is recommended for perusal late at night, in a lonely house, by an unsnuffed candle, with the wind roaring round the dwelling, the room door ajar into a dark hall-way, and the windows rattling in the most supernatural manner.»
