Welgemoed oder Rooiheuwel? Beide Gästefarmen sehen in der Tracks4Africa-App vielversprechend aus (außer, dass beide auch um Trophäenjäger als Gäste werben), beide liegen an der gleichen kleinen Hinterlandschotterpiste irgendwo zwischen dem Karoo-Städtchen Fraserburg und der Karoo-"Metropole" Beaufort-West. Bei dererlei Gästefarmen ist es ratsam, vorher Kontakt aufzunehmen. Manchmal gibt es sie gar nicht mehr. Oder sie werden gerade renoviert. Oder die Campsite ist gerade überflutet worden.

by @beet_keeperWhen you move country you have to be prepared to change quite a lot about your life. Back at the end of 2020, apart from literally everything else going on my partner and I also moved from Canada to Germany.
For me, this was my fifth or so international move (including shorter temporary stays) in as many years.
Being able to pick up sticks and move like that means living a drastically minimized life. Most of the things you have fit in a suitcase. Most of the things you have are small, and largely not overly whimsical. Sure, you can fit a few treasures into your bag, but you learn to value small ones, not things you might otherwise use to decorate an entire apartment!!
So, what do you do when you do have an apartment to decorate?

No sé si lo había compartido o lo pensé pero nunca lo hice, como a veces me pasa, pero a raíz de empezar a practicar #Kenjutsu y gracias a la vigilancia de los dispositivos tecnológicos es que descubrí el manga #Vagabond de #TakehikoInoue y lo cierto es que me he enganchado muchísimo.
Pero lo más interesante de todo esto es que antes hubiera pensando en proyectarme con el protagonista #MiyamotoMusashi y su búsqueda por la perfección marcial en el manejo de la espada, eso hubiera sido en mi juventud, pero lo cierto es que en realidad me estoy interesando por los otros aspectos de la trama como las historias de trasfondo de los personajes secundarios, el apartado histórico que a pesar de ser obra de ficción existe, la espiritualidad, etc.
Una de las historias que más me llegó fue la de un maestro espadachín deprimido que se convierte en padre logrando así tener una segunda oportunidad de dejar algún legado, y en la ironía de no querer enseñarle esgrima a su hijo por querer alejarlo de la violencia y de la obsesión termina en realidad formando lo que parece ser uno de los espadachines del momento. Las revelaciones y el final de esta historia me parecieron muy hermosas.
El manga es en un Japón Feudal por lo cual es una historia que no está libre de violencia, machismos, éticas y morales de diferentes matices y colores, pero cuando logras separar los tantos hay, a mi parecer, una gran historia la cual por el momento voy a continuar leyendo.

by @beet_keeperI want to let you into a secret: I enjoy corruption. Corrupting digital objects leads to undefined behavior (C++’s definition is fun). And flipping bits in objects can tell us something both about the fragility, and robustness of our digital files and the applications that work with them.
I had a pull-request for bitflip accepted the other day. Bitflip is by Antoine Grondin and is a simple utility for flipping bits in digital files. I wrote in my COPTR entry for it that it reminds me of shotGun by Manfred Thaller. The utility is exceptionally easy to use (and of course update and maintain written in Golang) and has some nice features for flipping individual bits or a uniform percentage of bits across a digital file.
My pull-request was a simple one updating Goreleaser and its GitHub workflow to provide binaries for Windows and FreeBSD. I only needed to use Windows for a short amount of time thankfully, but it’s an environment I believe is prevalent for a lot of digital preservationists in corporate IT environments.
Bitflip is a useful utility to improve your testing of digital preservation systems, or simply for outreach, but let’s have a quick look at it in action.

@RomanticIsa it's a must watch! One of the screenwriters is Jang Young-chul, who wrote #Vagabond too.
Like in Vagabond, the plot is thrilling. Not a single episode is boring. It gets a bit too unrealistic at some point though. I forgive that for the sake of its length 😂.
And the costumes are marvelous too. I'm not that much into hanboks but in this case the costumes really make an impression! The maid ones are my favorite 😍. -

I recall that this show started out better than it ended and at this point, a couple of months after watching, it is entirely unmemorable to me. My advice would be to move on to something else since there are so many excellent shows out there!

I enjoyed the show a lot more the second time around. I have such appreciation for the talented actors in the show. I'm tempted to rewatch #TheKingEternalMonarch before long, another all-time favourite. In the meantime, I'm 2 episodes into #Vagabond with #BaeSuzy. Lots of action.
