En una ciudad empiezan a aparecer espirales por todos lados de maneras muy bizarras, y a toda la peña se le empieza a ir la flapa level god. Pero normal vamos, porque primero se obsesionan con las formitas pero luego se les enrosca el cuerpo, el pelo, o se convierten en caracoles grandes y húmedos.

While I understand the complaints about the animation quality in the last three episodes of Uzumaki, I don't think that's what held the series back. This isn't a series that relies on great animation. The plot itself was a letdown.

The huge drop in quality in the "Uzumaki" anime is such a shame. The first episode was visually breathtaking, every scene was so detailed and layered. But then we get to episode two and we're left feeling like they didn't care anymore. And this is so detrimental to this story because as it goes on the visuals in the manga get more and more elaborated because they are, obviously, one of the main parts of the storytelling.

[EN] I got back from Japan yesterday, so here are the things I just had to get. As a huge fan of Shinkai Makoto’s, I had no other choice but to buy the artbook and the OST for “Suzume”, as well as the official novelizations of “The Garden of Words”, “Weathering with You” and “Suzume”. I also got “Kimitachi wa dō ikiru ka” — the novel which inspired Miyazaki Hayao to make his latest film (titled after the book) — and “Uzumaki” by Itō Junji, because the Polish translation has gone out of sale and is extremely hard to find in an acceptable price. Except for the artbook and the manga, all these things come from a chain of second-hand shops 👌🏻

Wczoraj wróciłem z japońskiego urlopu, więc dzielę się moimi fanowskimi zdobyczami. Jako psychofan Shinkaia Makoto oczywiście musiałem zaopatrzyć się w artbook i płytę ze ścieżką dźwiękową z „Suzume” oraz w powieściowe adaptacje „Ogrodu słów”, „Tenki no ko” i „Suzume”. Do tego „Kimitachi wa dō ikiru ka”, czyli powieść, która zainspirowała Miyazakiego podczas tworzenia ostatniego filmu (pod tym samym tytułem) i manga „Uzumaki”, bo znaleźć ją w ludzkiej cenie w Polsce graniczy z cudem. Wszystko poza artbookiem i mangą znalezione w sklepach z książkami i płytami z second-handu 👌🏻

Junji Ito gets it *mostly* right in his snail imagery. In this image, left-coiling snails have their genitals on the right, when they should be on the left. They are of course hermaphrodites, not "both males".
