  1. #today, i tried uzbek plov and uzbek manti from a local #uzbek place. it was such a nice experience that i enjoyed with my classmates from the old turkic course.

the plov was mellow with carrots and it was accompanied
by some meat on top - such a delicacy made out of basmati rice. the manti was juicy and flavorful, and it was just cherry on top after the plov. it had a filling with onions yet it managed to taste as sweet as the carrots!

i would like to thank s. for the experience!
  2. @MarkSquiresWine I'm crowdsourcing a list of different wines to pair with #Uzbek plov (casting a wide net here as can vary wildly too, but moderately fatty beef/lamb, cumin seed, garlic) — do you happen to have any suggestions to throw into the hat? This looks like it might work given description!

So far, I have two votes for Beaujolais, also suggested: Gredos Garnacha, Bandol, 🇦🇷 Malbec. There is also some semi-sweet Central Asian #wine out there too (not for a story, just a personal project)

  3. Does your organisation work with #language #data in #Arabic, #Tagalog, #signLanguage, #Kannada, #Tamil, #Burmese, #Croatian, #Tigrinya, #Vietnamese, #Thai, #Pashto, #Uzbek, #German, #French or #Kurdish?

The @mozilladatacollective has an open #CfP to fund the uplift or creation of datasets in this space that focus on dialogic interaction, multimodal - so video or speech paired with transcription, or which focus on the intersectionality of under-represented contexts or domains.

    Is that your organisation?

  4. Delighted to announce that we have digitised our DMG collection (1876–1877) of the #Tashkent newspaper:

    Turkiston viloyatining gazeti

    dx.doi.org/10.25673/121092

In those early years, many issues were published twice: in a “Sart” version (#Uzbek) Kyrgyz” version ( #Kazakh).

  5. It is interesting to see a recent #anthology containing not only #Turkish contributions but also #Uzbek ones in various alphabets, some in #Cyrillic and others in Latin script.

  6. “What has always fascinated me and that I’ve admired are the layers of culture that inform each other – #Uzbekistan’s rich ecumenical heritage — it has everything from petroglyphs, #Zoroastrianism, #Buddhism, #Christianity, and #Islam. Being able to witness the birth of a republic is an extremely rare experience as well.” 🇺🇿 📖 😁 #Uzbek #Asia #CentralAsia #Literature #Culture #Humanities #Nashville #Tennessee cc: @olaskoolkitchen @TheTimesofCentralAsia timesca.com/from-tashkent-to-t
