Maricopa County has confirmed 40 heat deaths this year and is investigating 388 more, about 36 percent ahead of last summer.
That heat also shows up on our power bill. Worker Power hosts a meeting in the West Valley on August 7 about what utilities are costing people, with candidates for the Arizona Corporation Commission, the five elected officials who set those rates. Doors 5:30 pm.

The corp whores at so-called public utility, Portland General Electric (PGE), were granted an outrageous 17% rate increase by the rubber-stamp PUC of Portland, OR. That staggering increase begins to appear in citizen's electric bills January 1.
