An abandoned Soviet-era military engineering school. Abandoned since the early 1990s, when Latvia asserted independence from the USSR.
This school was built in the 1960s to train engineers and scientists for the Latvian Soviet Socialist Republic Armed Forces. Now, it is an empty relic relegated to history.

story idea (maybe a comic book?): american immigrant parents from the former soviet union (loosely modeled on my parents), comfortable after 35 years in the US, enjoying boba smoothies and falafels at pita inn...selling their old stuff on fb marketplace and sharing russian-language memes in the group chat...video calls with adult children and buying cakes at the large, elegant polish grocery store... through a series of mishaps, they end up teleported back to USSR in say, 1980. how will they survive?? what will happen?? how will they get back to the present???
i think this would be a hilarious story, but i am not qualified to write it, because i don't actually know what life was like in USSR. i couldn't hit the proper notes to give the most A+ experiences.
so if someone wants to write this story - someone who can nail the funniest experiences - please write it!
