  1. @gedeonm Have you seen this recent #Tested video detailing the 60th anniversary edition #cutaway of the #StarTrek #USSEnterprise?

#AdamSavage talks with illustrator #MattCushman about his process and tools used in creating the massive 11-foot cross-section illustration (including a few easter eggs too)!! Seriously impressive stuff 🤩

  2. Ready for warp!

Did I post that yet? Don't think so. This render is a few years old, the model is by the brilliant Marc Bell, I cooked up some asteroids in a matrix object and dropped the ship into them, adding some volumetric for mood and looks. Rendered in
    #C4D and #Redshift.

  3. 1/13: NCC-1701 Refit/A

What a glow-up. A ship so gorgeous it needed a 6-minute scene just to look at it from every angle. I don't think it'll ever get better than this one. 10/10, no notes.

  4. 2/13: NCC-1701 TOS/No bloody A, B, C or D

The original, and almost the best. Nice, clean lines. Yeah, it does look a little dated (for obvious reasons) but it's still a gorgeous ship, and is so iconic.

  5. 4/13: NCC-1701-C

I used to rank this one higher, but still think it looks good. It works well as an in-between design going from the B to the D.

  6. 5/13: XCV-330

OK, I probably shouldn't really include this one as we've not really seen it other than models and illustrations... but I think it looks so cool! It'd be nice to see this on screen sometime.

  7. 6/13: NCC-1701-E

This one definitely looks like it means business. It's got a more oval saucer like the D but having it longer instead of wider works much better. Like the F it's got a nice bit of the two-tone thing going on again. I kinda wish it had a wide dish like the D instead of that tiny dish, but I guess that 'Assimilate this!' scene wouldn't have worked out...

  8. 7/13: NCC-1701-F

It's a shame we don't see more of it, but the Enterprise-F looks quite cool IMHO. I think the twin neck struts thing works pretty well, I wonder if we'll see more of that in the future? I like the two-tone colouring with the black/dark grey bits too, it just adds a little something.

  9. 8/13: NX-01

I think they got the idea of an early version of the Enterprise just right. I like that it's not got the engineering section that all subsequent Enterprises have, it makes it stand out from the others, but still looks like it fits in the lineage of the Enterprises.

  10. 9/13: NCC-1701 Kelvin timeline

Again, they've not really messed about with the general look of the ship here, and unlike the SNW version it's nice and smooth, sleek and bright. There's something about the nacelles I don't like though, a bit too bulbous at the front I think.

  11. 10/13: NCC-1701 Strange New Worlds

Generally they've not really deviated from the look of the TOS's Enterprise, but I think they've overdone the aztec-ing and detailing. Also, why did they make it so dark? I saw a render someone made of this version of the Enterprise but with the brighter colouring of the original and I think it looked much nicer! I like the windows/cut out section at the top of the saucer section.

  12. 11/13: NCC-1701-J

This is such a weird one. Apparently it's absolutely mahoosive and has fields and forests and stuff in it. The nacelles look too small for it and I generally don't think it looks that great shape-wise but the translucency is kinda fascinating.

  13. 12/13: NCC-1701-D

Yeah, hot take alert. I love TNG but I've never really liked the look of the Big-D. It's mostly that kind of eye-shaped engineering section (I hate it) but the oval-shaped saucer and flat nacelles make it look all kind of squished to me.

    #StarTrek #USSEnterprise

  14. 13/13: NCC-1701-G

The most recent version goes straight to the bottom of the list. I don't like this one at all I'm afraid. The cut-out bits towards the back of the saucer section doesn't work IMHO, the engineering section is horribly bulbous, the back bit of the saucer looks too bulky, the neck's too short, the nacelles... I was going to say at least it has a good name, but they should've kept it as the Titan-A.

  15. RE: chaosfem.tw/@ellieraejaye/1164

Alright, I think I've settled on my ranking of the various Enterprises. Ask me again in a week (hell, ask again tomorrow) and I'd probably switch a couple around but for now, this is it. As per the TrekCulture video, I'll rank them worst to best.

Of course, this is just my opinion, other opinions will vary.

So here goes, and at the bottom of the pile is...

  16. Star Trek: Every Starship Enterprise Ranked From Worst To Best

I'd been thinking about ranking all of the Enterprises myself. I definitely agree with the G being at the bottom, it's fugly. As much as I love TNG, I've always thought the D was pretty ugly. It had always been at the bottom of my list but the appearance of the G has knocked that up a place now. The J is kinda bonkers.

I'd love to see more of the ring ship...
