This application is a modified version of the DemoQRScan application. From LambdaNative It allows you to take a picture, and then scans the picture for a QR code, which it then decodes and examines for a UPI payment URI from which it extracts the payment originator identifier.

It has been produced with the support of NLnet.

  3. *199# for Vodafone does not allow anything. Forces with a popup and sms to use app. Makes no sense. I am going Symbian or maybe "dabba" phone. I should get that service.

  4. I can use #UPI again after a month of breakage. Switching linked bank account to ICICI helped, though Federal bank also started working when I switched back to it again from ICICI later.

So not sure what broke in between. I had to add a non mobile number upi id after switching banks each time.

This is the 100% #FreeSoftware way of using #UPI. No need to install any apps and works on everyphone if you have #Airtel sim.

  10. The Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) is a Global System for Mobile (GSM) protocol that has been around since 1997.

It allows users to enter a combination of numbers, asterisks, and hashes in their regular dialling app to execute various actions on their mobile network account.

Although GSM, which includes 2G and 3G technologies, is set to be shut down over the next few years, USSD can be supported on LTE and 5G.

If you know the shortcodes your mobile operator uses for the various services, then USSD is often the fastest option for managing your cellular plan.

It also does not require an Internet connection or consume mobile data. When you’ve run out of airtime or data, the right USSD code can be a lifesaver.

Some are really useful, like being able to send a "please call me back" message, or sending airtime to another user, or requesting airtime from another user.

  12. USSD

    shkspr.mobi/blog/2010/07/ussd/

USSD - it's a funny acronym. Unstructured Supplementary Service Data. You type a code into your phone's dialler. - the phone queries the network and displays some information for you.

There are five types of USSD Command

    1. Activate - turn on the functionality: *USSD#
    2. Deactivate - turn off the functionality: #USSD#
    3. Register - set a particular condition: **USSD#
    4. Erase - delete any settings set by Register: ##USSD#
    5. Interrogate - check what it is doing: *#USSD#

    Universal USSD Codes

I can't find a definitive list of commands, so this is my scratch-pad for all the ones I've found which should work on all GSM networks.
