On July 12, what began as an unattended campfire grew into the Cabin Creek Fire, which spread to a few acres on a ridge in the Sawtooth #NationalForest. Newest hat and those who know me know I need another hat like I need more hoodies, coffee mugs, toy John Deere tractors or Hot Wheels; each hat, as is the case with most of the items in my collections, means something and this one is no exception. I’ll wear it for dad, a HUGE fan and supporter of the USFS who died last year and my oldest boy Ryan, who completed a semester of college as he began his goal of being a USFS ranger inspired by his grampa J before he was KIA in Iraq during 2006.

It has been almost 9 years since I left the US, and it is sometimes hard to admit how profoundly events in US still affect me. Parts of my life are tied up in it.
