  1. "How to Fully Incapacitate Google Tag Manager and Why You Should"

This is the title of a recent post from Bob Leggitt on his blog "Backlit". (link: backlit.neocities.org/incapaci)

If you are conscious of your #privacy and how it is violated by #Google (and other companies), I recommend reading it. It certainly got me thinking about limiting JS in the browser and #deplatforming.

Caveat: It's a bit long and assumes familiarity with Google Tag Manager = their #UserTracking platform.

  8. @zdfmagazin @whotargetsme

  9. This is an answer to those who say: "I don't care if ad systems collect data about me, I have nothing to hide".

Once the data is out there, there will always be ways to use it against you.

  10. Now I don’t want to sound too unreasonable and say that software-devs shouldn’t be allowed to make money of their software or even that unpaid versions with apps are unreasonable. The issue here is with targeted online-ads: This app EXPLICITLY targets trans people, and given that T does most of the work for trans men most of the users are trans-women specifically. That is a fairly concrete demographic for whom I’m positive there are companies that would be willing to advertise to broadly. Strike a deal with them and include their apps inside the software-packet.

  11. »YouTube: Sperren gegen Werbeblocker nun global«

  12. While i generally sympathize with the efforts of this Dutch campaign & website https://givesolidarityachance.org/eu
it seems akward, again, that the campaign

    • mentions no goals or deadline for the campaign.

Will signatures at a certain date be given to someone official in EU or Netherlands, or presented officially otherwise to show the sheer mass of people wanting to help refugees and change the EU aylum system for the better?
What exactly are we supporting here, besides a general "like" for the cause?

And the website is - despite a privacy statement (that lacks a date of writing) - subject to the usual meta data collection (g oogletagmanager / newrelic), all of which are not ncessary for the site to function and could easily be spared.
Why should i let anyone (Gugl tc.) track my campaign prefs?

Looks incomplete to me, and correct me, if i oversaw things.

    Anybody knows more?

I'm glad you have this resolved.

Two thoughts on the bigger issue: #UserTracking & #DataPrivacy. You wrote: "I’m not using Google search nor anything Google-related. "

    1) I recently read a pretty good article on how our smartphones and notebooks are "listening in" on us.

    2) I have been using #DuckDuckGo instead of #Google for these reasons for ages. Today, though, I read that all their privacy assurances are allegedly as fake as #Apple's and #Google's in earlier times.
