Too many hardware and software companies are forcing consumers to choose one or the other.

Because real service where you deal with your customer face to face can't accept "You are absolutely right! I have incorrectly identified you as a criminal and was about to fine you..." as a valid response.
AI is not ready for all products. Certainly not products where quality matters. Maybe as clippy 2.0 or an IDE suggestion engine or a documentation reference engine.
Great technology but greed is making us use it won't.

Trying to evaluate vivaldi as a possible replacement for floorp (unless firefox reverses its stance on AI, which, very excitingly, is a possibility!).
But the lack of containers in vivaldi is so disorienting. It makes me feel so damn vulnerable because I know that ALL the sites are having a feast sharing my profile and fingerprints with each other. Nasty. It just makes me sick.

RESOLVED : dropbox on Debian 13
If you are on Debian 13 and want to use dropbox as a daemon/desktop application, I have found it impossible to use their new software (.debs created for Debian). I also think it is mining your browser data for AI analytics.
Go with the nautilus-dropbox package in the stable branch.
And start looking for an alternative. They are coming after your OS and browser. Shameful.

Dropbox is showing some very suspicious behaviour on Debian 13 LXQt. It tries to 'connect' by forcing a browser window to open. After I do log in, it doesn't work.
The commandline leaks errors. After logging in through one browser, it still generates command line output when I browse through a different one.
And there are errors about coveoua. Does anyone know what coveoua is ? Some sort of an AI analytics company ?

Ugh. Reporting another anti-pattern from apple. Here is a screenshot.
Clicked on an epub file, and macos automatically opened this software. Cannot close it. Obviously you can kill it with some sort of a system monitor, but not through the software's normal UI.
Then I looked at the settings. This software sends all your data to apple engineers so they can know you better. What a disgrace.

Interesting. So zoom held my login hostage until I updated the software to whatever idiotic form it has morphed into now. I was late for the meeting, and zoom started showing an unasked for AI, UI-element that I can't get rid of. Data-theft by holding your communication hostage.
Is there a way around this situation? Some modded version of the software?
