    Third (3rd!) time trying the 'new' #Outlook desktop at work - and 3rd time going back!
    You can’t FORCE your workflow & design nuance on us @microsoft - single click opens an email!???!! Side bar has to be on the left and not bottom!??!?? Etc!
    </rant>

     I am constrained by my organisation as to what to use and have zero interest in web apps...  I know it will come...

  6. The thought process put into all stages of the journey is so well demonstrated. This is no doubt down to the British Airport Authority having the amazing #JanePriestman (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_Pri) as General Manager in #Architecture and #Design. Someone who could apply all their knowledge of Design across a spectrum of airport #UserNeeds.

  9. #DefaultsMatter, because while *some* people are confident enough to fiddle with them, many people are not. And it should not be necessary for them.

    Everyone deserves software already configured for #UserNeeds, not some #Feudal master.

    One good way to support the Fediverse's volunteer devs: ask them to work with volunteer design and user-research practitioners who help them to develop and test usable designs – before any substantial code is written.

    Testing mockups and prototypes with the community would reduce unhappiness all around.

  19. Here is an old article I wrote about user interfaces. Seemingly small things can make a huge difference. In the case of search filters, sometimes it would be super helpful to have an include and exclude option.

    This is particularly true with food allergies. Packaged cookies with peanuts is fine, peanut allergic people can eat there. Used as an ingredient with things you make onsite, probably can't there. Read more:

  20. We did a workshop today! We played back a bunch of customer journeys and findings, identified pain points and opportunities and agreed next steps for the project:
    i) migrate our customer to a reliable platform and redesign it to better meet (some hardcore coming up), and
    ii) develop our growth and marketing plan.
    Some disagreement among senior managers which is pretty standard but tedious 😅
