from what I’ve read, most screen readers won’t / shouldn’t read out non-printable characters (either HTML or unicode) but some may – I’d love to get some real-world feedback on the range of different screen reader behaviours for this case

"Social media platforms operate globally, yet whether they invest adequately in content moderation to protect users across languages remains unclear. Leveraging newly mandated transparency data under the European Union’s Digital Services Act, we uncover substantial cross-lingual disparities in moderation workforce allocation across platforms, both in language coverage and the number of moderators relative to the volume of user-generated content in each language. While larger platforms such as YouTube and Meta have moderators in many languages, we find that millions of EU-based users on smaller platforms, including Twitter/X, post in languages without any human oversight. Even when languages have at least one moderator, moderator allocation varies widely and disproportionately to content volume, with Twitter/X mainly prioritizing English while YouTube invests proportionally more in other European languages. Across platforms, languages primarily spoken in the ‘Global South’—such as Spanish, Portuguese, and Arabic—consistently receive proportionally fewer moderators than English, ranging from an average of 55% of English’s allocation on YouTube to only 7.5% on Twitter/X. These findings highlight the need for more meaningful and globally inclusive transparency in platform moderation, to ensure that social media users everywhere receive equitable protection from online harms."

I don’t know how writing such T&C can even be legal, anywhere really.
Basically they are saying that if I write their service name as a hashtag in any social media platform they consider it a free meal and can store and republish and whatnot it as they see fit and I don’t need to know or get any compensation.
It really sounds like they think stealing user content is okay and expect users to not fight back.
I’m so going to ask them a few questions via email.

For any #YouTube creators out there, please, for the love of god, upload to #Odysee or #PeerTube instead. The enshittification of YouTube is only getting worse by the day. All Google wants is a monopoly over user-generated content, as unfortunate as that is, and their monopoly will only grow stronger unless we take a stand somehow.
Boosts would be much appreciated as I'd love to get the word out as much as possible.

In the #aughts (but probably starting a couple years earlier), we saw the rise of #web2, and the mass adoption of #MySpace, #Facebook, #Twitter. Especially with the rise of #cellphones with built-in cameras and #webbrowser enabled #smartphones, the information really began to flow in two directions with #UserGeneratedContent. I like to think of this as a one-dimensional vector field, where information was flowing in two directions, but still only in one dimension. 5/16

May I point you to a #UPP™ ( #UserPrivacyPolicy ) example that is modifiable for your selective needs which may be of use ( for free, obvs.) ? 💯 Feel free to add in ' non-commercialized LLM's clause iF you so desire, also. 🙄
As an eXample this User Privacy Policy also was quite effective against Elon's #grok AI ~36hr post launch and is, by design as a policy, effective against commercial AI Monetization of #UGC™ ( #UserGeneratedContent ). Citations given but do be aware the citation referenced has questionable origins as a .us website I have found, especially iF you are a Government Computer user, mind, so full disclosure on that origin background and DON'T visit this from a Government Computer, would be my advice. 🙄💯🙊

The #SIMKL platform needs to clarify what they meant by “All submitted reviews become the licensed property of Simkl.” It's vague and can be interpreted in various ways.
For example, that wording appears to me that when I submit reviews, I transfer ownership to them. The reason for this is they used the words “become” & “property”.
Thus, “become the licensed property” would mean that I transfer ownership then they license it however they want, since it is now their property.
