Bovino is the former head of the #USBorderPatrol who until the beginning of this year was the face of #US president Donald #Trump’s anti-#immigrant campaign of mass #deportations. He was pushed out of that position as part of the fallout from the mass #protests against Operation Metro Surge, which laid siege to working-class communities in #Minnesota — especially around #Minneapolis and St.Paul.

Police officers were injured in recent shootings in North Texas and South Texas. One of the shootings happened Friday outside an ICE detention facility in Alvarado. The other incident was Monday at a U.S. Border Patrol facility in McAllen.

"The border patrol have not been prosecuted for deaths, rapes, molestations and human and drug trafficking.

"The Criminal Section of the Civil Rights Division at the Department of Justice wrote to me:

"'The tragic death of Raymond Mattia, who was shot and killed at his home, by officers of U.S Customs and Border Patrol agents Whitehouse, SiFuentes, and Torralva, on May 18, 2023.'

'Mr. Mattia’s death was indeed a tragic loss. Mr. Mattia’s death was indeed a tragic loss. However, the information provided about the circumstances surrounding his death does not disclose a prosecutable violation of the federal criminal civil rights statutes enforced by the Criminal Section.
