Welp, after going several rounds with USAA trying without success to get them to do the right thing and stop sending me spam from their CEO that I can't unsubscribe from, I've finally just blocked them and moving forward every time they spam me it'll get reported to SpamCop automatically as spam.
"We care about your privacy but not enough to let you unsubscribe from these announcements you don't give a shit about," says a lot about them, I think.

It grinds my gears that #USAA says in this letter that they "may" report this income to the IRS and it "may" be be taxable, and I should consult with my tax advisor to find out for certain.
But that's impossible with the information they've provided. They haven't said _how_ they're going to report it to the IRS, and they haven't provided enough detail about what it is compensation for, for any tax advisor to be able to render an informed opinion on the matter. So dumb.

Per my records, I did file at least one dispute of charges on my USAA credit card during that time, and they did mishandle at least one of them.

This video was heavy on meaningless platitudes and light on specifics. To the extent that specific "improvements" were mentioned, they have nothing to do with the reasons why I'm in the process of leaving USAA:
1) Their website regularly malfunctions.
2) They won't do business asynchronously (via email or online messaging).
3) Half the time I ask them to do something they screw it up.

... And this is not a joke ... I was literally told once by a #USAA phone teller that we wouldn't have to worry about all this security stuff if everyone would just get a job. As if that's an excuse for security and fraud detection this poor.

This is random and I don't know who needs to hear it, but don't bank with #USAA. They're everything you would expect from a bunch of military dropouts. Their password security is virtually non-existent (max length is 12 characters, no spaces/other special characters allowed, MFA over unencrypted protocols only), and when they freeze your assets because of a $3 purchase to a vendor you frequently spend small amounts with (this happens twice yearly or so), they tell you... 🧵
