  1. This spoof of GoFundMe hits hard (but true).
Only in America where healthcare is run like the Hunger Games could you hear a CEO say out loud:

“I run a popularity contest where if you lose you die!”

  6. @luckytran
I hope that means they'll set up a comprehensive regional health system with free coverage for all! If they teamed up with the West Coast Health Alliance, I suspect they'd have a large enough percentage of the population to make it work.

Edit: I looked it up. The combined population is 65,873,578, which is approximately 18.7% of the total US population of 342,034,432. That's far more than many nations with healthy national health services!

  8. Health Insurance Card: “Emergency Visit: $50 Copay” Bill: $1269.60

The fallout of The E.R.’s Embrace.

Yes, the copay was $50, as the insurance card claimed. The tests and “coinsurance” brought it to $1269.60. I was making sure my severe and rapidly worsening nerve pain at 3a wasn’t part of a stroke or other neurological issue that would have ended up costing the insurance company way more. Deny, Defend, Depose.

If you’d like to help me out with it, please buy me a ko-fi. See you at the USA healthcare revolution, fellow body-haver.

  13. I think it's funny I figured out I had Tourettes more because of YouTube than USA medical systems.

Because nobody knew what was wrong until I was 27.

A YouTuber popped up - #SweetAnita who I followed cuz she was funny. Then noticed her doing things my mom did when she wasn't on her meds.

Then noticed I was also doing things she was doing without the constant vulgar out bursts.

Then met a doctor with Tourettes too and he confirmed it.

  18. @ElizabethLeeCo Why, I know that feeling well.

Its comrade in arms is my battle to keep my mouth shut when someone from another country compares something to a bad American thing that, though perhaps being correct, is also common knowledge we're trying not to think about. #USAHealthCare

  23. Here in the USA, health care is pretty messed up.

Does anyone else have doctors leave their state, retire, close their practice as soon as you start using them? It happens to us CONSTANTLY here in Arizona for the past few years. Not sure how you're supposed to maintain any sense of continuous care in the USA in 2023.

It's all turning to what we call 'McMedicine' here in Arizona. The visits are BRIEF but we still owe our PCP like, hundreds of dollars that racks up for just regular visits and such (also, the "PCP" is a nurse, that's what they do here- nurses and physician assistants act as PCPs- it's VERY tough to find an actual doctor). Maybe it's a doctor shortage.

I always wonder what it's like in other states in the USA - we have Blue Cross/Blue Shield for insurance, and it's supposedly decent insurance.

Is it Arizona? Do they punish doctors here? Is it aftereffects of COVID? The USA in general and just the end results of a for-profit healthcare system that's obviously set up only for the very wealthy and continues to move in that direction?

    Anyone else's experiences?

  28. For anyone who might still think high medical costs are the fault of healthcare workers. The USA is utterly RULED by insurance companies.

🚨"With more than $2 trillion a year of medical claims paid electronically, these fees likely add up to billions of dollars that could be spent on care but instead are going to insurers and middlemen."🚨

  33. I can't say I am impressed with the healthcare system. Either they are pushy like used car salespeople to ensure you stay within their brand or they are incompetent or both. I must have told the guy 10 times I needed the ultrasound for my gallbladder first. He scheduled me for another less urgent one. Now I have to see what I can find before the end of next month. #artistlife #USAHealthcare #healthcare

  48. The case of harm reduction,
    A radical approach to emotion,
    A year inside a crisis,
    Where measures should be concise,
    Addressing overdoses,
    And aiming for cures,
It's a plan both bold and wise.
