I just rewatched Urusei Yatsura Movie 4, which has a reputation for being difficult to understand.
I ... don't get the criticism. It seemed straightforward to me when I first saw it, and it still does.
Maybe I just have a high tolerance for people like Mendou just getting weird ideas in their heads and everyone else just going along with it?

@howtophil #UruseiYatsura : The universe is full of a surprisingly large number of aliens that are naturally or who arbitrarily transform into cute high school aged girls who Ataru Morobishi has hit on.
Which #UruseiYatsura anime should I watch first?

Anime Blu-ray Review: Urusei Yatsura TV Series Collection 4
awww geez I just gave myself flashbacks to my teen years
I just finished watching the "Urusei Yatsura" (2022) series (4 seasons).
Pretty sure this will be the end of it, since it ended with the "Kanketsuhen"/"Final Story" plot, which I believe was the end of the manga, and was the plot of the 5th movie.
The series appears to follow the manga more closely than the old series, although I haven't actually read the manga, though I've flipped through it (I have a Japanese copy).
I did like it, although looking over it, I am left with a little bit of "Why would you make this, when there's a perfectly good 196-episode original series, 6 movies, and several OVAs that cover the same material, and include extra stuff as well..?"
The new music is good though. It is HD and widescreen of course, and the animation style is pretty nice. It's quality work. I am even impressed with how well the new voice actors captured the characters.
But it does feel like it's all in the service of recreating a thing that already existed.
Surely, with all the manga out there, there is new stuff -- even new SF/fantasy/horror -- to adapt..? :anime_huh:
But to be fair, I am a sucker for anything UY, so of course I bought all four seasons on Blu-Ray. And maybe that is why. 🤷♂️

📰 Urusei Yatsura: A Fan's Expression of Love for Lum
"Urusei Yatsura is more than just an anime, it's a nostalgic dream that never fades away. For me, Lum will always be the spark that ignited my passion for adventure and romance."
Dear anime-hashtag friends, has any of you watched both the original Urusei Yatsura from 1981 and the remake from 2022? How do the two compare?
I have been re-listening to the soundtrack of the original series, and many scenes came suddenly to mind. It was absolutely hilarious; I could compare it with Konosuba, but with ten times more craziness...

Breaking a self-imposed rule for this #animangafoundIt: I normally play only if I find a fitting image in what I'm watching/reading the week of the challenge, but today I'm submitting this months-old screenshot from the recent remake of #UruseiYatsura -just because I like it and want people to see it!
@apc I don't remember if it's from season 1 or 2 of the remake, probably 2
And an alt version with different eyes

I was planning to draw Ataru Moroboshi but wanted to try Rei first.

Día 45.
Hoy he podido dedicar un rato por la tarde para ponerme a dibujar. Mi primer crush (o de los primeros) en 2D. Lum 🥰
For the past half year, I've been watching through the [80s] Urusei Yatsura anime. I've now run out of episodes, and I'm trying to come to terms with the void it's left in my life. #うる星やつら #ラムちゃん #UruseiYatsura
