Painting tiny still has a learning curve for me. My clip to hold this 5x5cm sketchbook open takes up a lot of real estate. Fixing stuff in between by removing it once in a while would be a good idea. Fewer squashed trees, for sure!

Coffee sketch from yesterday. Pen and ink with watercolor wash. This might be my favorite coffee sketch I’ve done using this technique. I let the watercolor be itself to create texture. I preserved the white space. I kept the watercolor loose instead of filling in all the space like it’s a coloring book which is ever a temptation with the ink under-sketch. I feel it’s ultimately a successful sketch because I worked with the natural qualities of the medium instead of against it. To me, this sketch feels like a breakthrough in technique. #watercolor #UrbanSketch #PenAndInk #coffee
