In retrospect, this was a mistake.
Both groups had dedicated and fast-thinking GMs and groups who were excited to be there -- but the game is the most complex character/world setup of any PbtA I've seen.

Wie heißt nochmal dieses etwas ältere Rollenspiel, wo es genau um so was geht? #UrbanShadows ist es nicht, war kein pbtA-Spiel. Es ging um Okkultes. Ich wette, gleich fällt es mir wieder ein, nachdem ich den Sermon hier fertig getippt hab. Edit: Nope, tut es nicht.

Something that just occurred to me about #ApocalypseKeys: The fact that no one uses permanent stats and abilities are mostly defined by your Powers of Darkness makes it really easy to grab moves from other playbooks without having to roll them on your worst stats.
In #UrbanShadows, our Imp was in fact an Incubus and the Vamp's Eternal Hunger move would have been perfect, but it's rolled on a stat the Imp gets at -1.
In ApocalypseKeys, I noticed that my Surge will likely generate a lot of bonds for others and act as a knowledge repository, so the Shade's move I'm the Expert Here would be quite useful and appropriate and I can just take it... once I get the necessary XP... -
This is golden, glorious stuff for magical realism or modern fae myths. Great inspiration for any modern fantasy, with a bit of work.

In yesterday's game of #urbanShadows, the Fae was facing a horrible dilemma: He had a lead on the person who bought cold iron bullets, but that lead was an old-school surveillance video tape and to follow up on it he'd have to sit through two hours of utter boredom. Impossible.

Another second Saturday, another #MagpieGames Community Play Day. I played in a fun session of #UrbanShadows. My "Veteran" archetype was a Fae scion of the Summer Court who spent the last 50 years at a human college because he found out learning and college life are fun. He may also have supplied half the campus with... um... herbal remedies.
Over the course of the game, we investigated a murder and messed with one elder vampire on behalf of another elder vampire. Our characters worked together quite a bit more than the system usually intends, which definitely sped things up, but also made the web of debts we spent some time setting up feel a bit wasted, though sometimes worldbuilding feels like its own reward.Also, as it turns out video games are really helpful in supporting ttrpgs. The #SaintsRow Boss Factory (available for free on Epic) is increadibly awesome for creating character images for modern settings and #StrangeHorticulture made sure I had a sufficient amount of weird plants to distribute. Thanks again for the recommendation, @Lilliana_S!

Vor drei Tagen ist das MC-Kapitel als Preview aus dem leicht verspäteten #UrbanShadows Kickstarter zu den Backern geschickt worden, ich hab's dann mal gelesen. Hgrn. Wie soll ich mich denn dann zwischen dem und #AcesInSpace entscheiden? Ich fürchte, es müssen früher oder später mal zwei Kampagnen her.

@PaulStefko I love quickstarts as previews of a final product but I’ve actually rarely run a game out of one. There’s often something standing in the way, like goofy pregens, very limiting rules or an arid setting. A recent counterexample is #UrbanShadows 2e though - I have to admit the quickstart is quite next level.
