On #BlackAndWhiteThursday I have the Three Wise Me-- actually, the symbolism has me a bit confused.
The alpha and omega are pretty clear. After a bit of reading up I found out the Patriarchal Cross (sometimes erroneously called the Cross of Lorraine, which has two equally long horizontal bars) was widely used in Hungary, Slovakia, and Lithuania in early medieval times, but the scroll has me at a total loss. To my layman's eyes it looks like nothing I've encountered. Not Cyrillic, Hebrew, Arabic, or any other language I recognise and that fits to the area.
For reference, that photo was taken right outside the walls of #Bratislava Castle, Slovakia.

Deutsch:
Nachdem ich mich jetzt in meiner selbstverwalteten Instanz ein wenig zurecht gefunden habe, wird es wohl Zeit für ein neues #NeuHier, auch wenn ich schon ein bisschen #AltHier bin und mit der 2. oder 3. Zwitscher-Migrationswelle nach Musk ankam.
Mein derzeitiger Hauptfokus ist die #Fotografie, insbesondere die #StraßenFotografie und #UrbaneFotografie. Desweiteren interessiere ich mich für's #Mittelalter, insbesondere lagere ich gern auf entsprechenden Märkten, wenn nicht gerade Corona ist. Speziell fasziniert mich die mittlerweile vorletzte Jahrtausendwende, also mitten in der Christianisierung Nord- und Zentral-Europas. Wenn ich nicht gerade in Mittelalter-Gewandung mit meiner Kamera herumfuchtle, spiele ich leidenschaftlich #Minecraft - besonders gern Modpacks mit Freunden auf dem eigenen Server - und #CitiesSkylines oder treibe mich im Fediverse herum. Oder spiele #Tabletops und #PenNPaper
#Musiker (Bass, Gitarre, Gesang) mit langjähriger Erfahrung im #Instrumentenbau, besonders Restauration bzw Reparatur aller möglichen #Zupfinstrumente, damit verbunden auch tiefere Einblicke ins #Tischler-Handwerk, leider fehlt in den heimischen vier Wänden ein bisschen die Möglichkeit, das auszuleben und weiter zu pflegen.
Ich freue mich über angeregte Diskussionen und Austausch zu obengenannten Themen, aber auch zu #Politik, #Dampfen, #Schneidern, #LockPicking, #PsychischeErkrankungen als Betroffener und Angehöriger und noch gefühlten hunderttausend anderen Dingen.
Beiträge auf deutsch und englisch, größere Tendenz zum Englischen, weil das mehr Menschen verstehen.

After getting settled in my new, own instance I suppose it's time for a new #NewHere #introduction. Even though I may already count as somewhat #OldHere since I arrived with the 2nd or 3rd migration wave from the bird site after it became a billionaire's living room.
My current main focus (wait for it!) is #photography (haha, see what I did there?!), in particular #StreetPhotography and #UrbanPhotography. I'm also engaged with #MedievalMarkets which I frequently attend (includes camp) unless covid decides to have its go at us.
Apart from that playing Minecraft with friends, favourably a modpack on my own server, is a passion of mine as well as Cities: Skylines, or playing tabletops or pen'n'paper.
I'm a musician (guitar, bass, vocals) with some years of experience in #luthiery, and through that also some insight in #woodworking and #cabinetmaking. Unfortunately my home isn't the most ideal of places to further tend those passions of mine.
I'll happily engage in discussions and debates about the above, as well as #politics, #vaping, #tailoring, lockpicking, #MentalHealth, and a felt additional gazillion topics.

#DingsTag - wieder unter dem Motto #VorherNachher. Dämlicherweise habe ich nicht nachgedacht und beim Export des Originals versehentlich den History Stack des Ergebnisses verworfen, deshalb nur ein Gedächtnisprotokoll:
- Objektiv-Verzerrung korrigiert (NUR die Verzerrung)
- gedreht und zugeschnitten, damit der hellgraue Vierkantstahl aus dem Bild verchwindet, und ein etwas quadratischeres Format gewählt, weil ich mehr vom "Oberhalb" und "Unterhalb" des Hauptmotivs haben wollte
- Weiß-Belichtung in 'filmic RGB' aufs Minimum gezogen und Schwarz-Belichtung aufs Maximum, sowie hier schon den Kontrast erhöht
- #Monochrom-Filter aktiviert
- Im 'local contrast'-Modul die Spitzlichter etwas reduziert, die Schatten stark erhöht und den Mitten-Kontrast mäßig erhöht, sowie den Mitten-Bereich etwas nach unten gezogen ( #darktable-Nutzer merken spätestens hier vielleicht, dass mir die deutschen Bezeichnungen in der Oberfläche nicht geläufig sind)
- im 'tone curve'-Modul ein eher rechtslastiges S produziert, weil mir die hellen Bereiche zu dunkel waren
- recht großzügig 'grain' hinzugefügt, um ein bisschen mehr den Schwarzweißfilm-Effekt herauszukehren
- Wasserzeichen reingeklatscht und exportiert

Heute mal ein etwas anderer #FotoMontag, angelehnt an das #VorherNachher-Thema. Zwischen beiden Bildern liegen 10 Sekunden und 90° Unterschied beim #CPL.
Ansonsten habe ich bei beiden Bildern im Post-Edit in #darktable das getan, was ich immer mache: Objektiv-Verzerrung kompensiert, automatisch den Weiß- und Schwarzpunkt finden lassen und händisch leicht nachkorrigiert, im Modul "local contrast" an den Reglern gezogen, bis es für mein Auge ausgewogen ist bzw die Stärken des jeweiligen Ausgangsmaterials am besten hervorkommen, und bei BEIDEN sowohl "global vibrance" als auch "global chroma" auf 50% hochgezogen und dabei "global saturation" eher mittig verortet bzw leicht gedämpft, bis die Farben im Verhältnis zueinander und zum Licht einigermaßen in Balance sind.
Im Versuch fair zu bleiben habe ich dem "flauen" Bild sogar noch ein bisschen Extra-Kontrast spendiert.
Ach ja, und bei beiden hab ich einige Zeit darauf verwendet, zumindest das Gröbste an Staubkörnern wegzumachen, die ich ausgerechnet gleich beim ersten Objektivwechsel auf der Tour auf den Sensor bekommen und erst zu Hause in der Nachbearbeitung bemerkt habe 🙄

While the #KaiserWilhelmMemorialChurch didn't technically decay - it was heavily damaged during WWII - I think it does depict the motto in a more metaphorical way. The remains of the main tower of the church were reinforced and preserved to serve as a reminder and cenotaph of what fascism (and war) will lead to. And unfortunately this collective memory has indeed heavily decayed particularly over the last decade.
