  1. I got lucky at the antique mall this afternoon. Someone marked this as standard jadite and though it is jadite, this is pre WW2 depression jadite colored with uranium dioxide. This is a Jennette 2-cup measuring cup manufactured between 1932-39 and is from the sunflowers line. I picked it up for $25 which thrilled me because the last mint condition one I saw was $85, but they knew what they had.

  2. “Ross Bhappu, president & CEO of Canadian Mining Co Energy Fuels and board chair Bruce Hansen bought the largest amount of company stock purchased by an insider in its history just days before #Trump’s National Parks reduction announcement.

That announcement opened almost 3 million acres of federal land to #uranium mining that would benefit Energy Fuels, just as the company had been asking for since #Trump’s first term in office.”

  4. Uranium legacy

    Dr Gil, Uravan Town Physician
Reconstructing Uravan is a collaborative project examining the erased town of Uravan, Colorado, which supplied Marie Curie with radium and later processed uranium for cold war atomic programmes. In the 1980s, residents were relocated, and the buildings were buried. Central to the project are wet-plate collodion tintype portraits of former residents.

  5. I picked up this Fenton custard glass ruffled basket after voting today. A lady in my town had it, from her mom's curio cabinet, I paid $30. She had a lot of interesting pieces but I'm only looking for a piece of custard and vaseline glass to round out my shelf. The basket is in mint condition and the hand painted flowers are perfect, she took good care of it. It makes a neat living room display.

I have to go pick up Ellie. Have a good night!

  9. I found this uranium vase in the basement today. It's in mint condition besides the hand painted flowers being slightly worn. I'm about out of boxes so this might be it for my personal collection. My grandma had some interesting pieces.

  12. Instead of putting grandma's glassware back in boxes in the basement, I've decided to display the pieces I found. So this evening I cleaned out a space and mounted a light. The cadmium glass doesn't pop as much with the blacklight as a UV, but the uranium glass does. Can't win them all.

I'm displaying all my antique glassware not just the uranium. It brings back memories.

  13. The World's First #NuclearWaste Tomb Is Nearly Ready to Open
With space for 6,500 tons of #uranium, #Onkalo is aimed at providing permanent storage for spent fuel from #Finland's five #nuclear reactors – three of them located in Olkiluoto.
Spent fuel is planned to be deposited in Onkalo's massive network of tunnels for 100yrs, but operations may be extended if new nuclear reactors are built.
Subsequently, it will be sealed to provide safe storage for at least 100,000yrs.

  14. I found some uranium glass in one box but not the decanter and glasses. Maybe I didn't grab it and I remembered wrong. I've got a few more boxes to go through.

This is a sherbet dish and ringed glass, both from the Hocking Glass Company mid 1920s-30s. Grandma probably had sets and these are what's left.

Sorry they're on the toilet lid. It's the only dark room I currently have.

  15. Plan to keep #Navajo #CoalMine open for 110 years runs into opposition

    Arlyssa D. Becenti, Feb. 12, 2026

Excerpts: #BurnhamNM — "Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren has been open about his support for keeping the #FourCornersGeneratingStation operating until 2038, along with continued #CoalMining for the next 110 years.

"But community members and #EnvironmentalJustice advocates say the plan ignores the ongoing transition away from #FossilFuels and could endanger the health of people who live nearby. They voiced opposition at a public hearing at the Burnham Chapter Jan. 29.

"The Four Corners station, a coal-fired power plant near #FruitlandMN, is operated by Arizona Public Service Company and is scheduled to close as early 2031, and no later than 2038. In 2013, the Navajo Nation formed Navajo Transitional Energy Company to acquire the Navajo Mine from #BHP #BillitonNM Coal.

"Since then, #NTEC has also acquired coal mines in #Wyoming and #Montana, and in July 2018, NTEC acquired a 7% ownership stake in Units 4 and 5 of the Four Corners plant. Now NTEC plans to expand Navajo Mine and operate it for the next 110 years, until 2136, with support from Nygren and council delegates.

"#Trump orders fuel energy initiatives on #NavajoNation

"The attempt to expand coal mining on the Navajo Nation for 110 years comes after President Donald Trump signed his executive order Reinvigorating America’s Beautiful Clean Coal Industry and Amending Executive Order 14241 in April 2025.

"The order said that to keep the U.S. economy strong, protect national security, and lower living costs, the country needs to produce more energy at home, including coal. Another order, 'Immediate Measures to Increase American Mineral Production,' was signed in March, aiming to accelerate domestic production of critical minerals by streamlining permitting, financing, and federal land use processes.

"Since Trump signed the orders, the Navajo Nation has accelerated efforts to establish a dedicated energy office. While the idea had been discussed under previous administrations, it has only recently gained momentum. The office would function as a centralized body to coordinate energy policy, regulatory oversight and long-term energy development.

"Other actions by Navajo Nation leadership aimed at engaging with this renewed federal focus include holding public hearings on the potential revitalization of coal and continuing work related to #uranium production and the cleanup of legacy #contamination."

Coal Mines, #OilAndGas #Methane and #Uranium Transport: Deadly Mix on
    the #NavajoNation

By Dine' CARE, Censored News, July 23, 2026

Dine' CARE (Citizens Against Ruining our Environment)

#WindowRock, #NavajoNation -- "On Monday, #DinéCARE. hosted a press conference with #BurnhamNM residents and other coal impacted community members at the Navajo Nation Council
    Chambers.

"They called for the Navajo Transitional Energy Company (#NTEC) to withdraw its No Name Permit application, which seeks a 110-year, 11,526-acre coal mine expansion.

"The proposal threatens health, the environment, and Navajo cultural heritage.

"The Burnham Chapter formally opposed the permit in February 2026, citing incomplete materials, inadequate impact review, and lack of transparency.

"Advocates demand a thorough Environmental Impact Statement (#EIS), coal supply plan disclosure beyond 2031, and accountability from leaders. A decision is expected next month."
