138km, 161hmZum Donauradweg gibt es eine gute Nachricht und eine schlechte. Zuerst die gute? Es gibt jetzt endlich eine Ortsumfahrung für Dürrnstein, das ja einer der Gründe ist, warum wir normalerweise das Südufer bevorzugen. Die anderen Gründe sind ein paar Engstellen auf dem “Radweg” in der Wachau in Kombination mit massenhaft auftretenden (Rad-)Tourist*innen. Ja, die Wachau ist eh schön und Weltkulturerbe und so, aber das ist sie auch vom anderen Ufer aus gesehen. Aber jetzt gibt es auch unten am Ufer eine Möglichkeit Dürrnstein zu umfahren, was 2024 besonders wichtig ist. Und das hat mit der schlechten Nachricht zu tun: vor ein paar Wochen hat es südlich der Donau einen Felssturz von 13.000 […]

Museumsbahn Steyrtal: Grünburg – Steyr
Bei der Einfahrt in den Bahnhof St. Valentin haben wir die S-Bahn nach Steyr aus dem Bahnhof ausfahren sehen. Eigentlich hätten wir ein paar Minuten Umsteigezeit gehabt, aber die Taurus vor unserem RailJet nach Westen hat sich ein bisserl bitten lassen. Lange hat es so ausgesehen als würden wir den Zug doch noch kriegen, aber irgendwann ist dem Fahrplan dann doch der Geduldsfaden gerissen. Für uns hat das zweierlei bedeutet: erstens müssen wir uns um das Bier auf der Rückfahrt keine Gedanken machen, die ÖBB hat uns eingeladen. Wir müssen sehr traurig dreingesehen haben, sodass wir vom Zugbegleiter je einen Gutschein für den Speisewagen bekommen haben. Und zweitens fahren wir jetzt nicht nach Steyr […]

119km, 900hmEs ist jetzt 23 Uhr 35 und zum ersten Mal an diesem Tag sitzen wir und strecken die zwei der Viere von uns, die man zum Tippen und zur Bildbearbeitung nicht braucht. Streng genommen sind wir auch den Grossteil des restlichen Tages gesessen, aber das war irgendwie nicht so erholsam. Das Mühlviertel ist nämlich ausgesprochen hügelig und deshalb kommen von Linz nach Rohrbach und auf anderem Wege wieder zurück doch rund 900 schwül-warme HM zusammen.

112km, 1414hmIch muss zugeben, die Tschechische Eisenbahn ist mir unheimlich. Nicht nur, dass sie von Prag nach Linz einen Nachtzugwagen mitnehmen, auch der Rest der Fahrt ist so wohlorganisiert, dass es einem als nolens volens Kunden von anderen Bahnunternehmen, z.B. der Deutschen Bahn, ganz flau wird. Es gibt Fahrradhänger im Waggon und zwar reichlich, die Hänger sind auf leicht unterschiedlichen Höhen montiert und wesentlich besser erreichbar als das Äquivalent im Railjet (ok, das ist keine grosse Kunst). Aber nicht nur das! Es gibt auch zu jedem Radplatz einen Sitzplatz mit der selben Nummer, der automatisch für uns bis Linz reserviert ist.
