  5. Daaaaanng it.

I've done it again. In an attempt to loosen up on the "but I don't have that notebook with me" perfectionism, I've scattered my song writing / song revising systems too far and wide.
I've allowed myself to spread out over a couple apps, lots of texting to myself, only a couple(!) notebooks, and at worst, some index cards (which are paperclipped into bundles and kept all together in a Ziplock. i do draw the line at random scraps of paper.)
Now, I had a good line the other day. And it paired well with another line I'd had floating around.
And I know I wrote it down. Like, solid 98% taking "being interrupted so brain ticked task as complete based on intention and initiation" into consideration. But I really do tend to remember that I've actually written things down — because it happens so rarely!!

And I can't find it. I've looked everywhere. If past logical me agrees with present logical me, we would have added it to the old line somewhere instead of creating a new random orphaned idea. But that older line already exists in a dozen locations due to revisions and digital vs paper… OR what if practicality and this feck perfuctionism! thing won out, and I just got it out my brain before I forgot it. Full Columbo with a Picasso sketch on the napkin routine… in terms of act first, think later.

Oh well. I was managing to beat some lyrics out myself but I wanted to track down that damn line and now… Well, tonight the white noise sounds like ME just continuously singing one long note. Oh wait, there's some overtones in there. I can't tell you the pitch of your vacuum cleaner, but I can detect an entire choir from the frequencies of a box fan.

I'll say it again: UPNOTE NEEDS A WEB VERSION!!!

Also weg damit. 🤷🏻‍♂️ #Fail #UpNote #Murena #eOS #Android

¡Mil gracias!

  12. @marcuwekling

Mein digitaler #DiD war bereits gestern.
Sämtliche Google Notizen gelöscht, die App vom Smartie deinstalliert und alles in #UpNote übernommen.

  13. Manche Editoren bieten "einklappbare Abschnitte".

    #upnote #notizen #editor

  14. Asahi Linux uses DNF. It's essentially Fedora with the extra trimmings to make it Apple Silicon friendly.

Managed to install ProtonVPN after translating their cryptic instructions. Their CLI example didn't work for Asahi but pretending you have Fedora gets it over the hurdle.

Now just need to convince UpNote that Linux also runs on non-Intel hardware.

    #upnote #notizen

  20. I just discovered #upNote getupnote.com/ an app to write and store notes.

But why all these apps doesn't allow to open a folder on your computer, like #obsidian does?

  21. @marcohayek @Kaiern Recently moved to #upnote from #obsidianmd

It is fantastic. My only concern is their sustainability. They have a one time charge.

I am assuming they have to pay firebase monthly for sync to work. How they will manage and sustain their biz is a concern.

  22. @CodeMacLife Did you publish this piece? I see that you are using #upnote. Anything else to publish?

  23. @_DigitalWriter_ I see that you're posting from #upnote to #hugo . But since it is not in English, I can't figure out how you publish. I see that you are using front-matter.

Do you manually export and push to hugo?

(hope I'm not rude in asking this in English; I recently switched to upnote and keen to publish certain notes to notes.jjude.com)

  24. Upnote -> Hugo

    #markdown #hugo #blog #upnote

    #journal #notizen #diarium #upnote #markdown

  27. I'm near the end of a blog draft for how I am applying minimalism to my note-taking. Can you guess the apps I am using? 😁

The blog post should be published tonight.

  32. Another nice feature of Upnote is the colo(u)r syntax for coding, which has made the experience of jotting down my web dev notes a pleasure to use.

Upnote lets me know when a tag is open, too. getupnote.com

  33. I've been diligently logging (most of) the books I read in #GoodReads for years - but I also like to write down thoughts in #UpNote - which uses #markdown rather like #BearNotes and #obsidian
I thought it would be nice to link thoughts to books easily.

So I wrote this utility to convert from the GoodReads #csv export into Markdown. I'd be delighted if someone else found it useful

  35. ‘UpNote’ Note-Taking App is Now Available on Linux

If you’re yet to settle on a note-taking service that works across platforms you may want to check out a new option now available for Linux: UpNote. Now, I will mention upfront that the UpNote Linux client is Electron-based, and it is closed-source, proprietary software. The service does offer a free tier that lets you create “up to” 50 notes using basic features but you will need to shell out $0.99/month subscription (or pay a $19.99 one off fee) to create more than this, and unlock advanced options like tables, attachments, and extra export options.
