Vielen Dank für diese Spur und Erfahrungswerte, dann werde ich mich am Wochenende mal damit beschäftigen.

Ah cool, #UpdraftPlus wird auch erwähnt. Damit habe ich meine BackUps laufen lassen ohne mich sonst weiter damit beschäftigt zu haben. Das stimmt mich zuversichtlich. Schade, dass die Erwerbsarbeit jetzt erstmal dazwischen liegt - würde gerne gleich einsteigen :-)

#UpdraftPlus users: I have finally received confirmation from their support folk (after 3 weeks) that UpdraftPlus incremental backups do not, in fact, include database backups. This is contrary to the log emails which say:

"Contains: Files and database (Incremental)"

The database backup mentioned is in fact from the last full backup. I've been running a separate database backup scheduled 10 minutes before the incremental backup, and will continue to do so.

@chopps Nein, reicht nicht aus. Du musst auch die Datenbank sichern. Es gibt dafür auch Plugins wie #UpdraftPlus die das für dich übernehmen.

One year and one day to the day, I moved The New Leaf Journal from Bluehost shared hosting to a Hetzner VPS account. Because our domain and permanent links remained the same, I was able to "restore" The New Leaf Journal on our new server from a backup created by the free version of UpdraftPlus. If you ever need to move a WordPress site and are not changing permalinks, the same should (I hope?) work for you.

My main project, The New Leaf Journal, is powered by WordPress. In early February, I moved the site from cheap Bluehost shared hosting to a Hetzner VPS server running @cloudron . I needed to move my content from the old server to the new server. In this article, I describe how I used the free version of the UpdraftPlus WP plugin to restore my site from a backup on the new server.
