  1. Confession: I cannot leave a plain jar alone. 🎨

Got a little paint-happy and now I have a collection of ombre jars that are genuinely too pretty to use as actual jars. Worth it.

Does anyone else have a specific material or object they compulsively make art on? Because for me it's apparently jars now.

  3. Double sided collage about climate anxiety💥

I helped organize a screening of Climate in Therapy at my school (TATI) where climate scientists did group therapy.

I made this art while watching to process the film and my own feelings. I chose the box from anti-nausea ginger for the base because I was thinking about how on the surface (represented by the outside of the box, image 1), I try to cover or lessen my climate anxiety and one way that I reduce my anxiety symptoms in general, is with ginger. Then I added collaged words that relate to those surface level feelings and trying to minimize it.

On the inside/underside of the box is collaged words with all of my deeper feelings that are more hidden and where they come from in regards to climate anxiety.

While these images show the white and green box deconstructed and laid flat, it can also be put back together and then the deeper feelings are even more difficult to access.

  4. Ive been stress-making #paper #beads from a discarded history #book and old nail polish for the last several days

I quite like the mindless repetition of it, i can just let my body go on autopilot while i think of something else or nothing at all... it kinda scratches the same itch as crocheting but in a slightly different way

Im excited to need more/larger jars to contain and sort the beads by size and finish, and also to start making projects out of them

Looking to the side bc i dont want to hide this behind a cw

  6. What Happens When a Plate Shatters and Its Artistic Pieces Go Free?

FRAGMENTED: Turning Broken Plates Into Art

Rob Strati’s “Fragmented” series shows how something broken can become something beautiful. It all started with a plate that belonged to his wife’s late mother, Barbara. One day, the plate fell and shattered into pieces. Instead of throwing it away, Strati saw an opportunity to create art.

    Rob explains it best:

“This work was inspired by a plate from my wife’s late mother, Barbara. One day it was dropped and shattered. Some time after, I picked up a pen and started working on the ‘Fragmented’ series, exploring the possibilities of things broken and the stories that can evolve from them.”

Using the shapes of the broken plate, Strati created intricate pen drawings. Each piece became part of a new story, showing how beauty can grow from something unexpected.

    Finding Beauty in Broken Things

Strati’s work reminds us that imperfections can be powerful. His art is similar to kintsugi, a Japanese tradition of fixing broken pottery with gold to celebrate its cracks. Instead of hiding the damage, Strati’s series lets the broken pieces inspire something fresh and creative.

  7. Art if the day. This one seems appropriate piece for New Year's Eve. I love The Starry Night and this is my homage to it's brilliance. It is made with broken glass from car windows, so yay upcycling!

    Happy New Year y'all!
