Stamp Collecting is/was my son Lennon's band who released their album last night at their final show in #NorthPortland. Half the group is leaving for college. Obviously I have bias, but damn, they were so good! #Unwound fans take note.

New Plastic Ideas
2023 U.S. reissue
“Usual Dosage” Orange Bottle #vinylAnother round of Unwound to kick start my Thursday morning.
Their second album, and another wonderfully noisy chapter from the early days.
A girl asked me if I’d go out with her sometime around 1994 (she ended up being a dear life long friend).
We were both around 15 at the time. When she asked me, I asked her “Do you like Unwound?”
She responded with “I don’t know what that is…”
“I’m afraid it wouldn’t work out.”
She found this very funny, and we actually dated for a few years before turning into lifelong friends, despite her ignorance and indifference to one of my favorite bands of the #90s .
When you have a body like she did, you date her anyway, and let her listen to whatever she wants.

Fake Train
2023 U.S. reissue
Valentine Card Pink #vinylOne of the most underrated and under-appreciated bands of the #90s
With all of the reissues and box sets that Numero have put out and reissued, they give to great lengths with loving care to help introduce them to a new audience, and jog the memories of those who may have forgotten about them completely.
Although they twisted and evolved from record to record, and they were ALL great, I prefer the early, scrappy and noisy Unwound records, and Fake Train, the one that started it all, is still at the top of the mountain for me.
It is so artfully ugly, and of the greatest #noise #posthardcore albums ever.Sara Lund was always their secret weapon. Her drumming is phenomenal. Without her, I’m not sure they get anywhere, wherever it was they got to.
Tom Jones should feel honored.

It can be nerve wracking for musicians and crew before a show. Lots to worry about and manage - sound, lights, your nerves, etc... and touring is tiring. Just before showtime - my sister is prepping flowers for the stage, and her husband Scott Seckington is getting warmed up to play. I have been backstage at some big shows - this was an unusually friendly and non-pretentious group of authentic artists and roadies. They love the work and the music. A fantastic team. #Unwound 🤙🏽

My brother in law and sister were on tour with Unwound - after three sold out nights in NYC they came down to Philly for two more amazing sold out shows - I was blown away by the energy of the music. Will be sharing my pix here as I process them. Amazing band. Amazing story. Amazing experience - stay tuned! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unwound #Unwound #Philly #Music

The #Unwound show last night was more affecting than I was ready for.
The Hand opened, with Alan from Low filling in on bass. Both Unwound and The Hand mentioned those "who couldn't be here" and Unwound ended their set tossing individual flowers into the audience as their guitars fed back.
