Democrats have utterly failed the electorate.
Jimmy Carter signed the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights but not a single thing has been done with it by Democrats.
The ICESCR provides a simple step-by-step, yet holistic, approach to “civil rights” aka Human Rights.
Until the Party people recognize and realize the need for ratifying ICESCR, they will always be out of touch.

oligarchy?
nay, sir, this is a duopoly of ochlocracy

Write to your #representatives and tell them that you demand that we #RatifyICESCR.
Demand your #humanrights to #socialsecurity and #healthcare (including #contraception and #abortion) by demanding that our “leaders” vote to ratify the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights!
-
That’s the double standard of America - we call out everyone else for #humanrights violations but fail to ratify international human rights laws that would require the US to solve problems that everyone has.
#RatifyICESCR

@naefool likewise!
in my humble, but considerable, opinion we ought to focus on a mass education campaign around the theory behind equal rights for all
Einstein and Freud exchanged letters making it clear that a lack of equal rights and the lack of an effective international court for conflict resolution were the key causes of war
the fight to educate others about human rights is the fight against war

I’m not here to talk about Trump.
I’m here to talk about human rights and how to apply the #UNUDHR, today, and to demand that the USA #RatifyICESCR.
It all starts with #DignityForAll - especially your enemies...
Unless you think Human Rights standards don’t apply to you?
edit: be forewarned, if you drop any more Vote Blue MAGA at me, i’ll block you

@PattyHanson ohh no, care to learn more? click _here_ lol
so, #UNUDHR is “United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights”
#RatifyICESCR is “Ratify the International Covenant on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights”
ICESCR is a treaty that would require us to write domestic laws that enshrine a dozen or so of UNUDHR human rights. Think: clean water, food, shelter, clothing, medical care, etc. are a right for everyone, in accordance with what a country can afford, w/ international help.
-
@PattyHanson the best weapon that we have to fight the fascists and the far-right (and far-left, for that matter) is to #RatifyICESCR and live the #UNUDHR
-
please boost, for the sake of humanity and the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights

@benroyce The only single issue worth fighting for is to #RatifyICESCR and to fully embrace the #UNUDHR .
The UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights is my single issue and I will talk about it until death, because it covers all possible issues of importance to the human condition.
Call me a troll farmer if you want, but I’ll never vote Blue or Red or for any candidate until they advocate publicly that we #RatifyICESCR

> Humans don't *have* to rabidly chase their own self-interest to the exclusion of other people. They can collaborate for mutual benefit, and usually do when they're given the opportunity.
Arguably, we’ve already committed to that. We just have to hold ourselves to that commitment.
The General Assembly,
Proclaims this Universal Declaration of Human Rights as a common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nationshttps://www.un.org/en/about-us/universal-declaration-of-human-rights

@HeavenlyPossum @wendinoakland @breadandcircuses
nope! it’s human rights. capitalism or not!
Article 22
Everyone, as a member of society, has the right to social security and is entitled to realization, through national effort and international co-operation and in accordance with the organization and resources of each State, of the economic, social and cultural rights indispensable for his dignity and the free development of his personality.

@WillA763 @memphismary @RickiTarr
imho, the fight to #RatifyICESCR is the only fight worth fighting right now.
if you would love to see that day, do the only thing that you really need to do: learn the #UNUDHR and teach it to everyone that you meet.
no cost is the goal, but we’ve got to start with a universal healthcare plan. anything less is a crime against humanity

universal healthcare is a solution: #RatifyICESCR
Article 25 #UNUDHR
Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.

Mary, apologies for my beating a horse, heh, as you’ve probably seen me say things like this over and over, but preach #UNUDHR and start advocating that we #RatifyICESCR !
The end result of ratifying ICESCR is that we will then be required by international law to write a domestic law that requires the government to provide housing to those that cannot provide for themselves, due to no fault of their own
We treat criminals better than we treat veterans sometimes, sick

streuth.
this is what the UN General Assembly was talking about in 1948 when they said:
“Whereas it is essential, if man is not to be compelled to have recourse, as a last resort, to rebellion against tyranny and oppression, that human rights should be protected by the rule of law,”
