ABC'S and 123's Teaching young ones how to read. Next Geometry and Chemistry. Now on to ancient history. Back to letters and the sounds they speak. All the while a toddler is tugging at my knee. The dog needs to be fed and probably outside to pee. But right now I am chilling in ancient Greece and teaching about Socrates. The life of a homeschool mama isn't for the weak. Through every lesson, it's His strength we seek. -

I'm glad to have found you again here and find that you're even cooler than I remember.
I recently learned that a dear old friend lives in Lahaina these days. If I can make a visit work out some day and it lines up with y'all needing a hand I'd love to. I also have family on Oahu I haven't seen in forever. I don't know how reasonable it is to try and visit 3 islands in one trip, but it's all a distant dream right now anyway.

Anyone who knows me well knows that child autonomy is extremely important to me.
Stumbled across this article while enjoying my morning coffee. This book, as well as Peter Gray's "Free to Learn" were instrumental in opening my own eyes to so much.
I rarely talk about this stuff on my general socials, but I felt the need to share. I'll also link to both "How Children Learn," As well as "Free to Learn," which as I said are excellent and must-read titles for anyone who follows youth rights or believes in unschooling, or simply wishes to learn how to be a better ally to children.

People with experience in #homeschool and #unschool please help:
Our Little One (3) is doing great so far, but I feel I need to learn more so we can do this together with them. It feels overwhelming.
Do you have recommendations on books and guides to teach myself how to homeschool/unschool a pre school age kid? And what follows?
We don't consider schools here safe enough and it looks like it'll be a while before institutions come to their senses.
So we better prepare for the long haul. Thx

For every excuse parents give regarding why they “can’t” homeschool, I know several homeschoolers who have overcome those same challenges to homeschool successfully, including poverty, single parenthood, and severe disabilities.
Where there is a will, there is a way.
Parents are responsible for their children. Full stop.

Two museums today for our unschool field trip.
The Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum (Two Rivers) has the world's largest collection of wood type along with all sorts of type-making & printing equipment (some still in use).
The Wisconsin Maritime Museum (Manitowoc) covers everything boat-related in the state--boat building, boats of all shapes & sizes, shipwrecks, etc. Includes a tour of a WW2 submarine (many were made in Manitowoc).
