Operations to retake Akobo from the opposition a month ago have seen hostility to UNMISS come to a head. The government had ordered peacekeepers to leave ; they have stayed to better protect civilians.

Burhan’s trip to Beijing and the signing of a defence agreement means she now actively supports the #SAF in the Sudanese civil war. And despite it being the main rationale behind her military base in #Djibouti, she has made no effort to combat a resurgence in Somali #piracy.
