  1. We're proud to share the story of Elizabeth Peddie Steele Hutton (c.1867-1917).

She was one of the first two women to graduate MA Hons from #UnivStAndrews History, and was later first editor of the student magazine College Echoes.

Sarah Leith has written about her (and her beautiful piece of pantheistic writing, 'The Romance of St Andrews') on our Women Historians of St Andrews website:

  2. Academic JOB at #UnivStAndrews for #histodons or others with interests in #heritage studies, #museum studies, #arthistory etc

We're looking for a permanent Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Reader in Museum and Heritage Studies.
You'd be based in Art History at St Andrews, and working closely with the University Museums team,
including on our co-convened MLitt programme (taught masters) in Museum & Heritage Studies

  3. #Solstice yesterday, but with sunrise this morning at 08:44, it didn't exactly feel like the days are getting longer yet...

So I've checked, and am 'delighted' to report that there will be a whole 1s more #daylight today than yesterday. I'm looking forward to the extra 9s tomorrow... (here at #UnivStAndrews, #Scotland, at 56.2N).

(Things I hadn't realised: sunrise keeps getting later for the rest of December, but the day gets longer because sunset will be getting later too, and more so.)

  4. Nice conversation between my St Andrews colleague Shuvatri Dasgupta and Mytheli Sreenivas on the Journal of the History of Ideas blog: "Reproduction: A Global Intellectual History—An Interview with Mytheli Sreenivas" jhiblog.org/2022/05/02/reprodu

  5. Surely the best thing about lecture recording at #UnivStAndrews is how some previous person has done a random rerouting of all the HDMI cables in the universe so it's a 5 minute job to plug your laptop in.
