@garidin Few more #RAGA supporters from that article:
Johnson & Johnson (#JohnsonAndJohnson)
#UPS
AT&T (#ATT)
#UniversityOfPhoenix
#ConcordFund
#AllianceForConsumersActionFundSince #FedEx is typically involved in a superset of UPS’ wrongdoing, I searched them out specifically and bingo:

7. Finally, it strikes me as more prudent for Bobbitt to spend his effort and energy lobbying to shore up the system's already existing colleges and universities, many of which are struggling and could use more state funding to better serve their communities. We don't need the baggage of a for-profit university that is still a bad actor.
That's all, folks.
-
6. My thought bubble: our system already has a fully online university that it acquired in 2021. Why not commit to developing its potential now that it has supplanted UA eVersity? Why not better support online program and course offerings developed by our already existing 2-year and 4-year regional colleges and universities? Why not spend more effort lobbying the legislature for more adequate funding for the system?

5. The UA flagship campus (Fayetteville) faculty senate came out in opposition when the news leaked earlier this year. Last week, the UA Little Rock faculty senate and student government association came out in opposition. UA Little Rock is definitely short on funding, and yet apparently its faculty and student representatives are seeing through Bobbitt's pitch and urging him to walk away...now.
-
4. I also wonder if the university system will end up being harmed financially and reputationally by being associated with University of Phoenix in any way, shape or form. The secretiveness of this possible acquisition bothers me as well. If I were one of the Trustees, I'd be hopping mad about that fact alone. I'm glad for the majority no vote on Monday by the Trustees. I worry that it will be ignored.
-
3. It's not clear that the system can simply walk away if the deal turns out to be a dud. When I hear talk of a guaranteed $20m revenue stream as if it's a given, it sounds like the sort of high pressure sales pitch befitting of someone selling time shares. I agree that there is an ethical problem with our system's campuses (especially our relatively privileged flagship campus) benefitting from the exploitation of those targeted by U. of Phoenix.
-
2. The UA system's Board of Trustees got to vote on the matter earlier Monday, after having this proposed deal sprung on them last minute, and after news about the deal had leaked to the press. The board narrowly voted against it.

What's unclear is how much weight Bobbitt will give to this narrow no vote. His claim is that their vote is advisory only. That said, the skeptics on the board made some valid points.

1. A thread of sorts - read on. Will the University of Arkansas System via a non-profit entity buy the University of Phoenix, which strikes me as much like buying a car with a rebuilt title for above market price sight unseen? In other words, will the system's president, Dr. Bobbitt commit to a deal he should avoid like the plague?

Something about this whole deal stinks to high heaven. The president of my university system's sales pitch is that acquiring a sketchy for-profit online university will benefit us "little people" in the system's regional universities and 2-year colleges. I'm skeptical, to say the least.

Will University of Arkansas System Buy University of Phoenix?
After a local newspaper broke the story based on a leak, the two institutions confirmed they are discussing a potential deal.
