Colombian president ends university autonomy policy, granting police access to campuses

A little over a month into his term, far-right President Abelardo de la Espriella has signed a decree allowing police access to university campuses.

In several Latin American countries, the prohibition of police access to universities has been established through student struggle to prevent abuses by authorities against student movements.

  5. Mexico's Congress is about to start discussion on a new Humanities, Science, Technology and Innovation bill that will regulate those sectors under the supervision of the National Council for Science and Technology.

The bill declares its aim to be the guarentee of the human right to science. Sadly, its articles seek to limit this right, as well as #academicfreedom and #universityautonomy.

I have co-organised an event to discuss the bill and how it could be approved.
