There are all sorts of things not to like about Aaron Bastani and the Novara Media crowd, but on this fundamental issue of socialised universal basic services he's on the right track. He's talking about a social transformation, not just being a better manager of the current economy.
It's not pie in the sky utopianism either; in Britain, one can see how a push for more public and social housing could start to move us towards the 2100 Bastani envisages.

So many volunteers doing great work for free. So many Americans trapped in a listless #BullshitJob because it provides them with #HealthInsurance.

@annaleen #CapitalismWillFall, it’s whether it brings everyone down with it as well. What you’re saying is *so* important, to imagine a world without capitalism is essential to creating a world without capitalism. I think of #UniversalBasicIncome or #UniversalBasicServices as a cornerstone of this imagining, where a home, food, warmth and nature are a right, not a bargaining tool.
